I might have to try this - my Mum drinks vodka. Do you all repackage it?

  • I've been using the old method of just waiting till whatever sweets you are using melted in the vodka - werthers and pear drops a firm favourite! I just soak the label off another voddy botle and decant it (means there's usually some left over - always a shame to waste it!!!:j :j ) Only costs about £7 for the whole bottle plus the little taster. Bargain!!:p

I have been trying to get cheapish miniature bottles to fill and then give as christmas presents - but haven't managed to find the right thing yet (thinking of using mini wine bottles minus the labels, but really wanted something smaller- like the kind you get on a plane - any ideas out there??)

Can't wait to try cherry menthol tunes - marvellous idea - cheers barmonkey!!

oh wow!! i never knew such a thing could be done!

do you use a decent vodka or something like a lidls paintstripper lol but then thinking about it the paint stripper one would probably still taste pants.
i like the idea of pear drops!! mmmm

so am i right in thinking you get a bottle of vodka and throw a packet of sweets in it and wait for it to dissolve?? (sorry bit of a thicky) :D
It only seems kinky the first time.. :A

Anyone tried coffee in the vodka?? Would that work??
If it was then mixed with coke would that make a drink called a Black Russian or mixed with lemonade to make a White Russian? Remember many years ago drinking these??

Ah...takes me back! My first love bought me a Black Russian when I was 17. I thought he was so sophisticated & grown up. No, he didn't try it on - he was a perfect gent, apart from giving alcohol to an under 18 year old. :D
Ebay~ A wretched hive of scum and villainy. :p

My Black Russian is a bit more complicated than coffee, vodka and coke, it's got Drambuie (or Tia Maria) Vodka, Lime juice and coke - and it's scrummy served with ice.......

  • Crispeater - yup. Easy as that!! Not as thick as you thought - I admit I was in disbelief when I first read how easy it was to make. I use Asda's own [STRIKE]paintstripper [/STRIKE]...errr...vodka = £6.23 for 70cl bottle.:j
It helps to pour a bit of vodka off to make room for the sweets (summat to do with a Greek bloke in a bath?), or just chuck the whole lot in a slightly larger container....between 3 hours and 3 days later, depending on which sweets/method you choose...Bob's your uncle.....

    Seriously lush!:rotfl:

I had the same problem and in the end I bought the cheapest cake flaviurings I could (20p a bottle) and they are just the right size. I bought peppermint and decanted the essence into an empty paracetanol (washed) bottle i case I ever have a use for it.I rinted laser labels and het presto little plastic miniatre bottles!

    anyone? :(
I guess you can do it with any spirit. I have done the same with gin. If your talking about dark rum the flavours wont be the same I guess as the base already has its own flavour but guess it would work withwhite rum just as good
  • try toblarone or after eight vodka. just break the chocolate in to small chunks, put it in the vodka, then put the top on the bottle, place it in the dishwaher on a hot wash and hey presto!!
