Ok enough of my crazy talks and maths which would make an economist blush, Ive reached a decision and we have all been there.
Need to get a car, and save 500 up for it. I am sorry mam and dad but for Christmas I will have a bit of car. As the husband already has his presents ordered He wont be missing up. Most ofthis is my fault, so iwill take the bullet. I want a car in less than 4 weeks. Here goes!Trying to shift that debt!0 -

Oh I dont know! but yours is canny old too! --- 11!!
Spoke to hubby over a lunch pow wow and trip to the pound shop, and we are investing ina pre loved classic who wont lose much, something like an old merc or alfa.
Then can just run it and flog it when we are ready for our real car.
My insurance is cheap so should be ok
For a grand we can get a 2001 just to get us over the next few months.

Left for life Down Under 4th August 2012 - living frugally and have learned my lessons :j:j:j:j0 -
yep and its a skip and a jump into insanity. One which I will only do, while wearing underwear inappropriately and deely boppers.
I think brightly coloured wellies are standard, and duffle coats.
I would use the bus but I live so in the sticks and have a haf hour round trip before work depositing kids at various locations.Trying to shift that debt!0 -
Hey , I am back.
A snazzy title, reminiscent of an aging Bridget Jones, she had big knickers, I have threadbare knickers (hey I have darned knickers, how mse, its a wonder I dont knit them out of string) which is basically summing up my (borderline sectioning to a "special unit") mood.
I married a man much younger than me, probably tempting him with my combinations of mid 1980s underwear, under mid 1990s clothes. In the noughties, who could resist a such a retro feast! However, this state of affairs makes me question his exposure to womens underwear. Does he even realise its advanced years? Although he has seen these garments and pegged them on the line, he has never yet bought me one singular item of underwear. This makes me a little  as I will not purchase for myself, saving the one or 2 nice pieces for the 2 primary occasions where you would need nice underwear - one of which is going out where you could end up in hospital, thus requiring nice underwear or being disowned by your mam.
I am now selling the mid 1990s clothing. It is getting retro bucks. Although I refuse to sell my leopardskin cape. I need this incase of accident while not wearing my best knickers, and it can be a handy furry cover all.
I am also selling a lot of books. I shall attempt via ebay for 99p, as this is free. I am willing to try other avenues but did try green metropolis once, but this had limited success.
Anyway thats my mumbles and now for my new revised master plan of masterful goodness (indispersed with mad ramblings, naturally).
I NEED a car. This has past the point of want desire or pine for. I NEED it. This isnt a second car, this is the car. We all rely on the one 15 year old, mechanical wonder which is Bessie. She however, is suffering from ill health and an increasingly bad tempered disposition. Not wanting to antagonise her further, and not relishing the daily fight with a one ton vehicle, I fully intend to retire Miss Bessie to the great scrapyard in the next town, where she can see out her days adding her parts to younger models and improving their longevity. This is like a donor scheme for our mechanical friends and while I will miss her, I will see her contribution to the roads of britain as a truly great legacy.
I waxed lyrical there, but hey. She owes me nothing. And shes a bad tempered old bat now. I am eyeing up younger models like a predatory Hefner, looking at their boot space and trying to construct a meaningful car purchase ratio.
Whats that you ask? Well its chuff really, it comprises, price boot space cabin size and wow factor.
However the last is a little optimistic, with a budget sub 1k. In fact, more ow than wow and sometimes, it s a how, as in how the hell is that thing still running.
Need a car. asap.
Anyway back to the plan.
. Persuade husband to buy me some new underwear
. Selling books (hints tips ideas needed and stuff please! if anyone has any)
. Buying a car (have justified it really)
What now
Oh yes
well the next master plan is to get the tenant into the house. We are going to get the work finished in January / February. We are making many steps and will be selling things like wardrobe doors and various other items. Ebay will continue apace and part of the money i am earing is going into the "Home improvements" fund. January sales will be used to buy a bathroom suite, because that is how we roll.....
My optimism about this though is much better. ANd during the times where we are "saving for the next bit of work" rather than having it done, myself and the husband will do something at the house.
this time last year, it had no ceiling. So even though its dragging a little now, its 1000% better than it was and I wont be beating myself up.
Fact is, I originally intended moving in there, but family size and mental health issues(I would go doo lally if I was in a 2 bedder with 2 kids) means that I am better off in my three bed renter.
Three bed renter, I am going to buy under right to buy. Am currently paying some messy bits off the credit report, so on the first of January I am putting the right to buy request in. This has taken longer than I had hoped, partially because I underestimated the speed at which people amend positive information on your credit report, (they are speedy with the negatives) and partially because I didnt want to make a mistake.
I will do some groundwork getting some further information from mortgage companies now. Just incase this has to be delayed further.
I need to sort my pension, into a SIPP. I have a number of old occupational pensions. If i bundle them together, I can get a lump sum freed up, fromt he first years interest. As these are all not growing this seems to be a good thing to do and has been recommended to me by an IFA at work. Money is good too.
.
Anything else?
Decluttering. My cupboards are very full of unused things still, and the 2 coolboxes are really in the way of the 24 bottles of wine (yep just 24 remaining) Alot of this can then be ebayed (see my ker ching is never far away)
Am also going to buy and outdoor conifer in a pot, for xmas. Due to DS being an Imp, and a devil, we can not have a normal tree. Instead we have a hint of tree, or twig on table. So outside with solar lights will be my tree. As this is the last Xmas I am visiting the parents all day and next year its going to be my house or you wont see the grandkids time, I will save it and decorate it then too.
This means this weekend if i purchase it when its goign to be cheaper than next month, I also need some daylight to do the garden. Fun times. I shall enjoy wearing my brightly coloured wellies and duffle coat. Please, feel free to ring a special unit if I don deely boppers...
So underwear books, car, tenant, January sales, right to buy, pension, decluttering (resulting ebay) and Christmas tree. Anything more?
Ah yes winter preparation. Coal is going to be delivered this weekend. 2 bags but with an order put in for a further 2 bags a week later. Need to keep an eye on it. At the end of the month we are going to the discount outdoors place to get everyones winter wonderland footwear, hats scarves and gloves, all of the sensible practical variety.
Baking and batchcooking - continues. Need a good source of cheap corned beef, asap.
Coq of vin last night was coqqy and vinny. Perfecto, as they say on only fools and horses.
Also need bits of furniture for the kids rooms, must look out for that in the January sales too.
Right now, the plan is taking shape. My christmas shopping continues, and I am sorted in some regards, my health continues to be a slight concern to myself and others and my family continue to be a source of joy, frustration and quite often delight, although I would give so much to be able to be a stay at home mam, that isnt in my future, unless I get 6 numbers up.
As for the debts, I shall get rid of vodafone, eventually, when I am ready to, because its gathering no interest, by the end of December so by the time mortgage things are happening it will be settled.
I will continue to work at the Lewis group debt after that, but not worry overly much if its not reducing massively until after Xmas.
the new year will be another set of challenges, and where I might not make my "new and slightly mad target" of getting my debtsto 25k this year, I have dont bloody well to get to the stage I am.
This time last year, it was three times more.
Tonight my beauties, I shall have wine a hot bath and do some ebay.
The life of the Fabulous Frugalista is never dull...
