I just want to say that I'm really amazed by how strong & determined you've been to sort out your debt!! i think it's great.

I'm not in debt myself (if you ignore by 150k mortgage and 15k student loan!!) but my OH has a loan with Welcome Finance (now being controlled by Lewis Group) - it was a £2k loan 3 or 4 yrs ago that he's already paid back nearly £4500 on, and they claim he still owes £8k. it's awful hanging over us and to make matters worse my parents just found out! so he's quite embarrassed to boot. I was just wondering how on earth you managed to get them to stop the interest on your account?? how have you got on with dealing with them? I offered them a full & final settlement figure of £2500 a year or so ago which they replied to with just a statement of what he owed and no actual response to what we'd offered. they just seem to want to ignore you! any advice you have would be great.
  • yeah, had one of 13k and one of 9k

Settled the 13k one for 5ish and the 9k one for 3ish as I recall
It took a lot of negotiation!

have you spoken to lewis group directly?

They will give you the actual figure owed and Welcome wont do settlement figures, internally their computers WILL add interest on they claim I owe alot more than Lewis.

I am getting them to change it on my credit report at the moment, its not a true reflection.

    Bl00dy well done, you.

Haven't had debt probs to sort out so don't know the ropes to climb but very pleased for you. That must be one hell of a weight gone.

The last hurdle, of course will be the last £30k odd, but you'll get there.

Anyway, what about my pics now that I've sucked up to you so nicely.:)

  • Thanks I'll give Lewis a try!! I'll look at doing an SAR to begin with and see what the amount is compared to what Welcome said last time I spoke to them I'm sure it will make interesting reading :):)

After that will just be making sure we have enough for another settlement request. I just want to get it all behind us rather than keep paying any more money to these cowboys!! it's not like he can even afford the payments anyway (hence why it went to Lewis, as he defaulted)

Here's to hoping!! keep going with the thread though, it's a great read. V inspiring!!
