£30,000 in 5 months?! I think you deserve to treat yourself.
Just had a holiday!! Yeah we have done well with settlement figures, want to maintain that momentum!!youareallhelpingme wrote: »I had no idea it cost that much to smoke .
I have had a lovely relationship with the RAC over the summer and these were not old bangers either . Any idea what is up with it? I have a bit of car knowledge.
Depends how much you smoke.... and to be honest I was having 2 puffs then chucking them..... cos I had stuff to do, so could easily smoke a 20 pack while really smoking about 8 cigarettes!!!
Car is the diesel primer, and it should be repaired tonight. I am now ready to see the back of bessie, shes been a good and faithful friend, but like all of us she needs to cut the 9 - 5 and be put out to pasture.millionaire_in_training wrote: »Boo Hiss to the car

Depression can very really hard to understand, and with kids you just don't have the peace and quiet to sit down and give yourself enough time to examine what's happening closely - this is why the counselling is great! You seem to be doing an amazing job, keep at it. xx Julie:T:T:T:T:T:T:T
If someone asks me though Julie I will say "Im not depressed, I am happy, just busy!!"
I am probably merely insane, where I am depressed but believe I am happy.
Haha.
I will keep swimming after all its what I like to do!

I gave up 5 months ago and can categorically state that it gets easier as time goes on. The first few weeks are incredibly depressing because you think you should feel good about it but just feel crappy all the time – trust me, this goes away.
If I could give you two pieces of advice:- Have a jar and put in the exact amount you would have spent on smoking every day. Once a month pay that off to your debts (or save it up for hols or something). If you do that before you’ve got used to the extra money you don’t feel like you’re losing anything.
- Read up on quitting smoking online, when you can see other people moaning about feeling crappy and having withdrawal side effects (insomnia, bleeding gums, nice hacking cough to name a few) you get some comfort that the horrible bits are normal and temporary.
This is amazing advice which I will follow. I will also lie on the bed covered in the money I have saved by not smoking. I shall wear flanellete pyjamas though, as I am too frugal to put the heating on xTrying to shift that debt!0 -

Haha.
DH will really think you have gone loopy then!!
Accept all the help you are offered, but do remember some me time, with or without the flannellette PJs.

Right chaps and chapesses, I have positive news which makes me crack a faint smile. The rest of the office probably think its just wind.
Armed with a cuppa brewed in the office - not bought from the canteen, just eaten a banana and packet of crisps from home, I feel like a paragon of frugal virtue.
In the office fridge, I have salmon rice salad (from home). I made this last night while making mince and dumplings and mash with broccoli (proper winter food). Tonight we have some salmon fishcakes which we will have with chips and me and the hubby will do some meal planning so we can go to aldi at the weekend and get stocked back up.
I will also do a run to the co op and get some of their whoopsied meat. Hopefully a whole chicken, as I would love to do another slow cooked whole chicken , it was beautifully moist and the roast potatoes I would do with roast garlic too.
Anyway, We have some money in. Dont get excited, its not the PPI. Its a one off random payment from tax credits. Its not enough for a ferrari, or even a fiat, but it would get us a decent restaurant meal out.
I have not gone for a decent restaurant meal. I have instead had a snacksize mars bar, and made some payments to things.
Ive made sure my hubbys account wont go overdrawn, and then Ive made payments on everything, and kept some to one side for cheap grocery shopping in aldi.
Feel much much better, now SOMETHING is in there. Normal tax credits due tomorrow, and some more payments will be made.
I have a book, to accompany the post it notes and printed out snowball. This is hopefully going to help me with my final push to 30k cleared, as I am not there yet! Once I am there, I will feel such releif, as I am putting so much pressure on myself.
Rang Lloyds last night and due to further debarcles at their end which I cant go into as I dont really understand, it was going to take a daft amount of time to sort.... but yestday they agreed to ten days and I should have the money in my account. So, by 16th September, I can have the "worry" of what to do with the money.
Meal planning with the hubby and continuing to be frugal!
Doing work at the other house at the weekend, tidying up, sorting ebay, baking and cooking.

Just wanted to pop in and say hi
I have been subscribed to your diary since the first page but think this is the first time I have posted, only normally lurk in a corner!!
I'm glad that you're feeling more positive today. I wanted to tell you that all your ebaying inspired me to knuckle back down to ebaying a few weeks ago when I'd gotten pretty down about it. I am desperately trying to clear our OD so we can start doing something positive and saving our money for our dream extension.
You seem great at balancing everything in life and have inspired me several times to get off my backside on days where I've been down in the dumps. I just wanted to say 'thank you' really and I hope that knowing you are helping others will help you on your down days0 -
