Hey Skint, been awol for a few days, not been quite myself.

Brilliant news on the ebay front. That is a decent amount. I have just packaged 8 items, 60 odd quid. All very welcome. Bloody hate packaging though, dont mind the posting but HATE the packaging.

Just seen your total payments YTD :j:j That is bloody good going Skint!! And another month closer to being debt free :D
  • princess i hope you are feeling ok. I know the money is fantastic isnt it? I am thrilled with our influx and I am hoping for another free listing weekend.

MY YTD has been boosted with the house purchase and I have paid a chunk of solicitors fees as a result.

Last night I did the packaging and a couple of surveys. I also made more paper logs. I am obsessed. I am after everyones old newspapers.

I also managed to request a bacs transfer from Imutu4l and that will be on its way, as its extra money made that will be put against cards too. It also shows my additional money made for teh eyar will go up.

I dont know how much I can say today - Im more disappointed about the whole Child Support issue. It seems 40 quid is my whack.

she costs that in body spray a month alone!!

Foggy and a bit poo weatherwise. Tonights plans are grocery shopping and general housework - but its a wine night. So thats a bonus!

  • Life is way too short to be a misery guts.

Myself and my DH are going to get some mothers day stuff today. MiL will get some nice Clarins cream as she is off to Barbados on the weekend. If one is in Barbados, one cannot possibly use No 7, I am sure! Not that I would know, No 7 is perfect for a weekend in Whitley Bay.

My mams skin has decided to hate everything which doesnt smell of tar, therefore I will get her a garden ornament or some such delight. She also likes bird feeding stuff.

I am not buying her clothes as she has cupboards full to bursting.

We also need some shopping. DH is a budding masterchef and is acing the batchcooking but has asked to do a special dish this week, and its moroccan lamb. I got a cheap lam shoulder for four pounds and had anticipated a dinner then lamb and mint sarnies but no such luck. Its going to be with cous cous and will be lovely I am sure. i am just concerned at the purchase of Saffron and other spices, but I know hes getting fed up with the staples of Chicken curry spag bol and chilli which we have every week - sometimes twice for spag bol - we have tuna steaks from 4ldi for our meal on Saturday and we shall have chips and salad with it.

Saturday we are also going to be working on the otherhouse. I seem to have sanding duty and the husband will be filling.

Following our tuna steaks we are out to a charity night. Nothing to do with comic releif, its to raise funds for my nephews football team.

We shall be on a race night, but its maggot racing. Should be interesting.

I just hope DS doesnt fling them about. Hes completely blase about such things as creepy crawlies and I may be a spider lover but that doesnt extend to maggots.

My sister and her tribe will be there so it should be a good laugh.

Made a silly error, and when I paid my husbands credit card minimum payment I accidentally paid it onto mine. Never mind, as I cycle money Ill cycle it to him.

At least it is Friday tomorrow! No word yet on a free listing weekend!

  • Madness prevails.

Forgot to say had a free sample of cat food in the post yesterday, much appreciated by Anthea and Poppy. The boys missed out as they were out and about, but Keith finished the remainder in the dish when the girls were done.

Pedro came home rather late, as it was mild and misty I am sure there were plenty of scents on the air. He has his own tin and there is always dry down anyway. Viktor had some chicken from the curry as he has a penchant for spicy food and it has a marked effect on his breath when he is giving cuddles. As for the dogs, Roxy and Cleo were well behaved yesterday, apart from latish on when Poppy kitten escaped, and they were getting in my way as I went to retreive her from the garden, and being very vocal about it!

I also fed Mr Spock, the tarantula and kiwi the frog. Poppy kitten tries to get the crickets. It could be a potential recipie for disaster.

The only other pet is Rosie the hamster, you might think this is bizarre with having so many cats and indeed it is. However she lives in DD2 room and as such there is limited !!!!!cat access.

Thats enough about my animals. I just thought I would mention them as the free cat food got me waxing lyrical about the babies!!

  • That, people is 2 and a half years. 2 years of severe austerity with a factoring in of 6 months potential slippage (exploding car, christmas and stuff).

What payments will increase when the extension is built will be negated with the rental income.

Its 2 and a half years of surveys, religious ebaying and scrimping. Batch cooking, log making and growing your own. Charity shops poundstretcher and Home bargains. Aldi Lidl - vouchers and coupons. Clubcard points, nectar points and advantage points. Cashback websites and overtime.

    Freebies and mending and DIY.

Doing without sometimes.... but only when its a want not a need, never going without.

Myself and the husband are refocussing, readdressing and revamping our outlooks.

The latter part while it may allow for slippage which hopefully we will claw back - will also allow for the buffer. The buffer is the mechanism we will use to prevent the carp happening in the first place. :rotfl:

After the journey ends, of course, there will be the savings and the mortgage. However this 2 and a half year journey will be the tricky mountain passes, the forest full of wild beasts and the stormy seas.
I will be on the smooth and calm soon enough. This flies in the face of my official DFD, but I know with added resolve and resolution and excellent ebaying and money management we can do this. Signature will be updated. Join the journey! (well, if you want, granted it will be a little ropey for a start I painted a bleak picture but am still hoping for fellow travellers!):rotfl:

  • :j Get on board the train. There are 29 stops beween here and debt freedom. Each stop will bring its own catalogue of heartache, laughs (I hope or this will be bleaker than Wuthering Heights) and some wit and wisdom. Add in the odd cat dog and child related story and it could be a soap opera.

A rebirth - no a re inventing of my diary to cover a series of milestones and challenges is the aim. I am going to be really busy, some days, too busy to post much, but d4mn it if its going to be more exciting than the television and more epic than Ben Hur.

If your whistle isnt whet by those analogies then you are out of toot. I may mention ebay and paper logs on a daily basis still, I know my avid readers need to hear these things, but instead of plodding we are going to push like stampeding widebeest.

Debts, watch out, we are going to own you!!! * Nb, we already do, but we are using the street expression as we shall whup their butts! Im going to try and be a little more structured in my diary, providing a story a day, like Jackanory without the fairies.

Today, i am pondering Welcome finance. More like ogres. Now my issue is this, I owe them money. A loathsome company, when I suffered with pneumonia and was admitted to hospital a few years ago for 2 months, despite having PPI and not being covered somehow, abd trying to contact them my debt rocketed. I accrued additional charges of around 2.5k.

Ive paid back all but 1200 quid of this at a measly rate now of 20 pounds a month helped by a PPI reimbursement. I checked my credit file and it still was stating I had defaulted at 4 grand. How very annoying. It fired me up so much, I paid a mere pound this month.

This isnt attracting any interest, as its with L3wis debt recovery. Its currently not on my hitlist. However, I think because of the history of it and the fact its an unsatisfied default I will clear it after Amex and Vanquis. I digress.

I had a letter in the post yesterday from Lewis debt recovery stating: We came to the arrangement of a pound a month some time ago (load of rubbish I did that to see if I could pay more against other more expensive debt) and could I do an income and expenditure form. I dont want to, really. I dont think its necessary, I will however go back to 20 pounds a month probably. I think I will just email them and say that.

However looking this, I am trying to work out the situation with Welcome and I dont know what the true story is. Ive been contacted by a company stating they are adminstering Welcome and provided links and a freepost address for my copy passport. They say it should be written off, I just need to prove my identity.

However if its with a debt collection agency, can it be written off? I should know these things but I am floundering. It seems some of the more aggressive companies are shrouded in crazy procedures.

So todays quandry - What about Welcome? Should I pay or should I go? Should I carry on and just pick it up pay it off and put it to bed? Should I rage against the machine or stand in line?

    Answers would be appreciated!

  • I would just pay it and get rid of it one and for all. These companies would sell you the moon but forget to tell you they didn't own it to sell in the first place. They talk such sh*t that I just wind them up when they call now.
I had one such company call me the other day wanting me to take out boiler insurance. Now my boiler isancient and parts are no longer made for it so as far as I am concerned there is no point insuring it. However the young man on the phone assured me that he could get any parts I needed. Well, said I 'so what kind of boiler is it I have again?' to which young man relied 'well we can get parts for any boiler' me ' I dinnae think so son as you don't even know what boiler I 've got' and hung up chuckling away at his cheek. They're wee chancers and I would treat them as such no matter how tempting it seems. Stick a wee post on DF board and see if anyone knows more xx

And BTW I am on the train but down in 2 nd class. Smells lovely though as I am burning a yankie candle :D

Sounds fishy to me. I would check your credit reference file and see who the owner of the debt is and then contact them asking if this company is legitimate.

I have a defaulted loan with Welcome and I am paying it back direct to Welcome. I haven't had another company contacting me telling me they are administering the debt, it has just been moved from the Gateshead office to the North Shields office and then to the Manchester office as their branch network shrinks.

    *pops out of lurking*

Hi skint, just to let you know i also have a loan with welcome, paying back through lewis debt rec. Payments go to lewis, but welcome update my credit file and i receive a yearly statement from welcome. I have two welcomes on my credit file, one is my original defaulted payments on the loan, the other is the new payment arrangements which reduces on the file.

Also my sister worked for welcome a few years ago and although they were in administration, they can still collect any money outstanding from their customers. When they first went into administration, apparently they were accepting 50% full and finals.
