  • Im abit of a lurker really but just wanted to say I subscribed a while ago and am amazed at just how much you manage to fit into a day!! I am always saying Im too busy so you do inspire me to just crack on and get stuff done.
Cnt believe how long you have managed without your car too, whilst still not blowing a gasket....no pun intended
Keep at it and good luck x
:j:j Thankyou! Im very results driven, so keeping a blog and a spreadsheet of money is my prime motivator. As for the car of despair, today is the day, the elusive part is here... so I am organising my family, and we are going shopping!

More in my posting! but hello, and thankyou. Messages really help x

  • This morning was very bright and decidedly chilly. When the alarm went off at 6.00, I poked a toe out of the duvet, and decided to have a snooze for a further 15 minutes. It was golden time!

Last nights meal of fish in sauce was very nice. It contained a chili, so it had a certain bite. :drool:The fish (basa fillets from A*di) had cooked beautifully and the prawns were juicy. It was not the nightmare concoction I was anticipating, and was eaten with gusto by the crew, but not DS as it was too spicy for him, he had some crusty bread and spag bol.

yesterday and today seem to be the nice days for the week. According to the BBC.

I have done six loads of washing and cleared the poo zone last night, hoovered, wiped round and tidied bedrooms, sorted ebay new listings out to put on tonight and had a general tidy up. I had aired some old wetsuits and animal pelts and will photograph and list those too, as part of a rolling program.

DD2 had cleared out a drawer and there were some first size bras, some only worn once. Beautifully white, they shall be a good buy for a mam looking for bras!:T

The car is being photographed tonight, and will be on gumtree as soon as I get time over the next 2 days.:money:

DH did a huge spag bol for the freezer, so bravo to him! :beer:We also bought more cheap meat we couldnt resist in Mr Ts, so thats for chilis and I will make DH a steak and onion pie on cooking night!

Tonight we shall have wheels and we shall shop. So exciting.
Need new glasses for DD2 and shoes for DS. Anything else will be a bonus. As a special treat we shall eat out. (we also will have no time and will be waiting for glasses to be done so its the only option) so no way a NSD or LSD, more a HSD and a gasp! :rotfl:

Im once again powered by dad car, the conversation ranges from taxation policy to breeding fish but hes a canny old egg and has been an absolute love taking me to work when he could be relaxing and enjoying his fishy retirement.:D I shall miss it when I have the Foo Fighters on the cd player...

DD2 was at her musical soiree last night. Shes very talented like that. I cant hold a note, but I am keen. Shes been asked to sing at things alot but has low self esteem, and is happy doing the school things. I am happy for her to be happy, she will find a time when singing is right for her. She also plays guitar, and I refer to her a Joan Baez. She hasnt a clue who JB is. I refer her to Grandad.

Thats me for today, my shopping success and failures shall be recorded later.

OOh and another thing, I did DD2 passport yesterday, its passed, off and will be ready next week as ex husband had brought dates forward and it messed with my money flow! Ours are going the cheap way, but with check and send, the baby shall be photographed tonight!!

Loved your story about your DD1 mending the glasses and putting the snooty school secretary in her place!! Fab, :rotfl:

    07/04/14 £15,690 On 2 CCs

    :(
  • Hi MC, yes, DD1 is caustic at times and amusingly so. She has no truck with that kind of nonsense. Like her mother!:p

I have my car back, of sorts. Its driveable but the power steering isnt connected, and as its a ever so long estate car its rather heavy. Ive not brought it into work today so the power steering can be fixed.

We went to metro centre. Oh it was a frantic time. I got home at 16.45, put the washing out which was in the machine, got some dry in at speed, DD2 made me a coffee and watched DS, packed DS bag with food, biscuits and juice, got changed out of work clothes into three quarter jeans and a sloppy t shirt and pair of pumps (mam wear for frantic shop trip) and a quick spray of deoderant... changed DS into thin trousers and a loose t shirt (indoor shopping centres get very warm)... put car seat in the car... buggy in the boot....

... and left the house at 17.30, to pick DH up from work - he finished at 6.

The car was heavier than a tank, but hey, we were in motion. We arrived at the shopping centre around 6.30 and went to sort an appointment for DD2 glasses - as it was a drop in evening. We were given a slot for 7pm, so it was straight off to Cl*rks to get DS shoes.

Now that son of mine is full of something. Some say its life, some say its mischeif, but whatever it is it doesnt lend itself to easy footwear purchasing.

Sarah, the sweet young sales assistant who loves little kids apparently, was so gentle with him and the small foot guage, and I was holding his leg, but with a swift flick of his foot he got her squarely in the chin with the guage.

Its ok, Sarah said, I am used to it. Poor girl. Should get danger money.

Measuring done, we looked at the shoe options. Now my DS started to walk, and about a day later, he began trying to run. He prefers this. His bruises are testament to the fact that fast is the preferred speed. I selected shoes and sandals with a wiggling child under my arm, and DH and DD2 went to the opticians, as it was almost appointment time.

I placated DS with a rusk, he was hyper though. His mood wasnt helped as there were some slightly older children jumping on the padded seats and running about. He thought this looked great and squealed and wiggled to be down, and I kept catching him as he was trotting about squealing and joining in with the madness.

After what seemed to be hours, Sarah returned with a few boxes.

We tried on the light up blue numbers, and set DS onto the floor to walk. Its ok, said Sarah, get him to walk to me.

Well, I let him go, and what happened next really wasnt my fault.

He went towards her, oh yes, running. I fully expected a person used to working with children to then perhaps get hold of him, but no.

    He kept running.

    I started running.

Had to dodge numerous buggies and the misbehaving 5 year olds, and saw DS approach an elderley gentleman and give him a quick hug!!

I slowed slightly - an error.

    I almost got him.

He ran out of the shop, I was on his heels, he went full pelt into a stand selling broadband and over it went.:eek:

    He was fine.

I apologised profusely, and the man was a little flustered, and I realised I had left my handbag in the shop and went back in with DS under my arm like a bag of coal.

Sarah greeted me with, "those look fine , shall we try the sandals now?"

We changed the shoes, with a struggly boy, and I set him down again for the walk. This time I was on his heels, and he was captured immediately.:rotfl:

Both pairs were fine, and I made the purchase, and set off to rendezvous with the others at the opticians.

I arrived just as the eye exam was finished, so DH took over DS, and sat in the cool area and fed him some of a jar of baby food, while admiring big boy shoes.

DD2 was no trouble selecting her frames, it was a 2 for one offer, so she got 2 nice quality frames, and we left the opticians arranging to pick the completed glasses up today.

A quick comfort break and nappy change and it was onto the next shop.

We then went to get DS passport photos done. Now, that boy was still a little hyper. I dont know how, because the trail of destruction should have taken something out of him.

I have nothing but admiration for the man in Jess*ps.:D

He got a photo of my boy, printed it off, and we are sorted now for passports to be done.

DH went into L*sh, and purchased me a bath bomb with relaxing qualities. Bless him, that and a bottle of wine maybe.:j

We then gave up and went to N*ndos for a bite to eat. DS had some coleslaw and chips, a rusk and the remainder of his jar. He began to look tired!

It was after 9pm, so we headed home.

Car was heavy, and as soon as I crossed the threshold, I completely ignored the carnage from the dash out the door, and jumped straight in the shower.

DH passed me DS, who had had a snooze in the car and was decidedly grumpy. DD2 opened her Joe Browns sale holiday delivery, and excitedly went through the contents. I gave DS a quick rinse, passed him back to his dad, got dry and cuddled DS to sleep, as he was all out of routine.

DH got pets sorted, made a cuppa, and we watched TV in bed.

No moneysaving, no cleaning, nothing of value really accomplished, but alot of boxed ticked and things we needed to do done.

    Not all bad then!

Tonight is cooking night, perhaps a bit of ironing too. I will make up for my lack of useful things done!! haha:money:

At work at the moment, and have a meeting with the union about my flexible working request I submitted in April.

    All go!

  • :rotfl:@ DS. I have DS like that too and he is nearly 14 . Total carnage is left in his wake. He's just like my very own tazmanian devil and my house more often than not is a testament to that. The big issue at the minute is my door handles as he has managed to pull nearly all of them off of the doors and what is his answer to that? Oops he says :rotfl:

  • It almost rhymes, and it sums up the weekend in a nutshell.

Friday evening, I got a lift home with my friend Joanne. Its just as well really, as DH had messaged me at work and said we were low on fabric softner and washing powder, and also bubblemix for DS bubble machine, and mushrooms.

Apart from the mushrooms, everything else was rather weighty. I thanked Joanne for the lift and got home with the packages.

On arrival, DH and DS were in the garden, DS was enjoying pegs. DH reported he had been clingy and a little off colour. I had a coffee and got in the dry washing and DD2 appeared from upstairs, packed and ready to go to her dads.

DD1 pulled up in her car, she had popped for a visit to see DS new shoes and have a cup of tea. Soon she was also employed in the peg game.

Their father pulled up in the car later than the alloted time (hes due between half 4 and 5 - he got to the house at 5.15) and both girls went out to see him.

Post is still being delivered for him to the other house, and wheras I have been putting not known at this address on the envelope, DD1 had picked some up from the house and gave it to him directly.

I went out to see him, as I had asked him if he could collect DD2 new glasses on the way up to where he lives. He was quite unpleasant without being aggressively so.

I wondered what had rattled his cage.

DD2 despatched, DH cracked on making some pie filling and stuff, while I chatted to DD1 and tidied round.

DD1 went home, and I made the pastry, and baked the pie in the oven, and we also had some duck breast from the freezer for tea.

DD2 texted me, and she said things were good, and then ten minutes later, she texted me and said things were bad, the ex husband and his new parter had been in a car crash.

I chatted to her on text and reassured her. She was fine once they had returned home and she saw they were ok. Apparently this causes issues now with their holiday, there could be some disappointment!

Saturday the rain was like stair rods. DS wasnt himself. No climbing the sofa, and preferred being carried.

DH watched DS while I did scones, cakes and french apple flan. I went to the other house, the shops and the post office to send the passports.

I fed DS while DH hoovered and changed the bedding.

Then I made some risotto and did a little ironing. we settled down to eat and catch up on Torchwood.

DS was burning up, he had dropped off and was twitchy.

We woke him and gave him calpol and then he went in the bath and to bed, he wasnt a well teddy.

Sunday he was even more off colour, with smaller periods of playing and we kept on top of his medicine.

I pottered on and did the ironing.

We decided to still visit Grandma and DD2 turned up.

the tale began, the ex husband was unhappy with me as he had wanted to collect DD2 earlier. Instead of organising it, on Friday he had rung DD2. She had asked my DH what time dad was collecting her and he said well, between half four and 5.

This is the prearranged time. If no changes are agreed the normal time applies.

Then DD1 asked for a word.

Apparently, she had rung my ex MIL (who I ensure my daughter regularly sees) on Friday, after the crash and my DH had been torn to bits for stating a collection time which was pre agreed.

DD1 said it was unfair and that DD2 had pinned him to a time, there had been no dialogue.

DD1 had been told in no uncertain terms that she shouldnt take sides against her father.

I spoke to her at length, and I am appalled that his lack of organisation should be turned about to mean that myself and DH are the subject of such hate, when all we do is try to accomodate.

    How bl**dy annoying.

then we went home, Ds and DD2 played out with pegs and a bread tray, and I went to the other house to find things to sell on ebay(reindeer pelt and lots of curtains) .

DS was hitty missy, we did bathtime and bedtime.

It was midnight and I stirred, DS was breathing funny. Labouring.

I checked his temperature, and he was burning up

we stripped him down, sponged him down, put fans on, his temp was 39 - 41....

Anyway we ended up in out of hours care, and DS was discharged while slightly pink, but not bright red.

I stumbed into bed around 3am and was back out for work at 6.15am.

    heaven help me!!

Daughters leavers assembly this afternoon the collecting DS from childminder (If she texts I will be getting him earlier) And more strong coffee!
