Council house debate

Thank you for your POLITE and REASONABLE response! I moved into the HA flat from a hostel, and I swore to myself that I would only stay in there for as long as I needed to. I was only in there for five years, and was a poor student when I moved in. I finished at uni, got a job, and started to save up for a deposit. I inherited some money during this time, and I immediately started to look around for somewhere to buy. I didn't SUBLET the flat like some people did! I wanted it to go back to the HA so someone else could make use of it!
While I was in that flat there were SEVERAL people around who worked, earned good money and COULD OF bought somewhere had they wanted to! But I guess they liked the security of having a HA flat in case they fell on hard times. The flat was in central london, and was close to everywhere. There were also SEVERAL people who lived alone as there families had moved out, taking up LARGE 3 BED properties!
Honestly that 'WEE' whatever their name is an I***t!! Huh goes around calling other people MUPPETS! WELL I THINK THAT THEY ARE A MUPPET!!I am very happy that this person recieved cheaper housing which enabled them to save for a house of their own as the house that they were renting can now be passed onto somebody else who needs help in saving up a house deposit. unless its gone to a sponging scumbag who plans on staying in it for the rest of their lives then thats a bit wrong isnt it.0

            FOURCANDLES,
Yes, but I can understand fabbman feeling resentful though. Of course they want to be in a better position where they are not having to pay such a high rent every month. I understand where they are coming from and I used to live in a HA flat myself. Of course people paying private, extortionate rents are going to feel like they do! I don't blame them I would to if I were in their position!I have been privately renting for 4 years now and just received a lecture form a family member about 'throwing my money down the drain' and need to vent my frustration somewhere.
Firstly this lecture came from a person who lived in a council house for 30 years and then bought it for 25k! Where are council houses for me & my partner? We enquired about obtainng one and were told that we are 'adequately' housed - of course we are we pay £700 a month for the Bl**dy privilege!
My argument in this was why was it the council's obligation to provide houses to the likes of him anyway, surely people should pay for the house they choose to live in and not say ' the council need to find me a house'
I think all council tenants should me made to apply for their homes every 5 years to see if more eligible people could benefit, after all some council tenants pay £70 a week with incomes of 30-40k per annum.
 Sorry just had to rant!0

To be honest after reading this site over the years I cant imagine anything worse than renting private , however if a lived on a deprived rough arssed council estate where ever they, must be pretty near the whingers on here id move and buy one straight away .However we have many council and association homes in remote areas and villages AROUND THE UK which have happy decent hard working people in them, and yes most if not all could pay private but hey why should they as long as they act with in the law .0

AGREE but most people will move on and most do, it is the stereo type view of people who always seem to be the only ones working in the uk who think all council houses and association are dog rough , people are all on benefits . drugs :rotfl: people with these views really need to get help as they are in my opinion suffering from low self esteem and envy which will ruin there lives in the end :A0

Don't think there was any need for the abusive post quite honestly! The usual judgemental nonsense on this boards. Get a life!
Don't aim that at me. Aim it at those like Jimmy who would have you evicted the minute you can afford private rent.0

I would regard describing people as "Scum" or "Parasites" as rude.... Wouldn't you?0
