It will take me a couple of days to complete the task as I have last years and this years receipts so far all together so have to sort them into individual months then write them up....then I'm promising myself I will write them up each day so am not faced with this again ...as it's the same every year...
Wow- quite a task!! Perhaps for now, with the new receipts coming in, you could just set up a temp system of monthly envelopes so you can deal with the backlog without feeling overwhelmed? You are probably doing this as you're really getting sorted - very inspiring :D

Hi Sea and Minnie....it's such a daunting task..you're right!!!.....I haven't started yet as had stuff to do today and am now cooking tea. When DH goes to work my task is to sort them into monthly piles and not to stop until I've done that!!!..it's easier without him in the house....lol...think I will set up temp system as well...minnie it's so good seeing you having turned that corner and you seem a lot happier in yourself..which is nice to hear...
Just back from paying subs and visiting my lovely friend at her cafe..also popped into Ethel Austin and bought a new pair of slippers £2 and they're washable...I probably won't be about this evening as going to start the accounts...I hate that job...chicken in cooking as we speak, washing on line and more just put in washer...what an exciting life I lead!!!....have a good evening everyone if I don't get back on

Taxi, I'm thinking of you too - I hate doing the accounts. Yours must be much more complicated than mine too, with taking money in lots of small amounts - just the thought of it makes me shudder.

i've done mine now, thank goodness, but I stupidly agreed to be Treasurer for a small charity so I have to do theirs as well! Must make time for that.

You do sound full of energy, you must be making a good recovery but don't overdo things.

    Hi taxi
My ex and i used to run two different businesses and I hated the paperwork with a vengeance, especially around accountant time.Used to pay a fortune for him to do the books if we hadn't sorted everything beforehand.Once i got in a routine and had lovely neat little summaries for each month of incomings and outgoings his fee dropped loads.:D and i didn't get stressed at having to sort a whole year of stuff out.
I basically started with two plastic wallets stuck on fridge one for INS and one for OUTS at the end of month just sort receipts and list and total onto one sheet for the month. Staple the receipts together then file away in big envelope with month on, one for the ins and one for outs.
Then start again for next month. At the end of year you just have to add up 12 sheets of ins and 12 of outs, and hand to accountant - easy peasy.:D

Hope you get the rest of the paperwork sorted soon. It's such a lovely feeling when you hand it to accountant and you've done your bit:rolleyes:
