I have done a big shop by myself tonight...how goods that?...I spent £97 in Asda but hit it right....i have about 4 months of proper meat all 1/2 price or less..I even got a duck for £3....I bought loads of salad things and fresh fruit...I must have had £160 wort easily!!!
Forgot to say went to Asda this morning to fill up taxi and a woman was doing the Asda card so got one of those as it gives me 2p off p/litre...and I use loads of litres!!!...I will pay it off in full every month as I do the morgan Stanley card which is the one I use for fuel at the moment....My M/S card gives me 1/2 p/c cashback...the Asda one gives points I think but it would be better as the 2p off p/litre...if I understand it....so will wait and see ..will check the CC boards...I used it for shopping tonight as they give you a temp card...0 -
Hi taxi, well done on the shopping and I had to smile re the Asda card - it seems wherever you go these days you are offered a credit card! I went into the post office recently to post a parcel and was offered one.
You are really canny using them for the cashback and cheap fuel etc. I am so wary of credit cards now I don't even dare use them in a MSE way.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Hi Seaxwyn....I did wonder whether to get it or not but 2p off a litre seems good...will double check all the small print when I get the card....need to check if you get points with the fuel as well.Though they come as the form of Asda vouchers...my aim is to only use CCs that pay me something and to pay them off in full each month...while clearing the 0% ones.
Going to pop to garage in a bit as taxi needs front brake pads and might as well get them now before it comes off as taxman can pay for them!!!....lol0 -
Oh to be offered a credit card.................:o

Hi taxi
thanks for the tips. will def batch cook and stock up onn everything that I can think of.Not letting OH loose in asda alone he buys all sorts of carp that we don't need:rotfl: . having big op not sure which way i will be cut but they have to remove 10lbs of fibroids while they are at it:eek: . Should help with the diet if nothing else.
Good tip about the flatties and loose clothes, will have to get a bag sorted.
No little kids to worry about DD is my"baby" and is almost 16 so she can muck in too.
RE the adsa card - i think you get 1 point for every £1 including petrol so you should be able to rack up some vouchers for your shopping in no time with the amount you must spend on petrol for the taxi - and bonus if you get it a little cheaper too. I use asda for petrol as it is cheapest around here anyway.Does your hubby have his own taxi or do you use same car? Might be worth getting additional card for him too.
Good Luck

Hi all....
Hypno...plan on getting the accounts sorted tommorrow...does that class as a good weekend...lol....you have a good one as well ..try and take it easy...knowing you...you won't!!!
Sophiesmum....you're welcome!!!...if OH can't be trusted shopping best do it yourself....the only reason I asked which way was because up and down takes longer to heal....another tip take some peppermint cordial or tea with you as the worst pain is the wind a couple of days afterwards...but don't panic at the word pain...as the op wasn't as painful as expected and it was the best thing I ever did!!!...that's some amount of fibroids...
Like you I already get my fuel at Asda as it's cheapest...and we do only have one taxi...I drive days and OH does the nights....at least we don't argue...lol...should get a good amount of points then...at the moment we use about £80 p/w but this will be near double when I go back.....
Went to the garage about the brakes and they only had to clean them off...so didn't charge me and I had 2 free brews as well.
We pick the new car up monday at 2pm can't wait.....but getting OH to drive it home...I always panic when I first get a new car and will drive it at my leisure to get used to it!!!0 -
Afternoon taxi - good news that the brake pads didn't cost anything! :T
2 free cups of tea as well - you are blessed with a Free-Cup-a-Fairy I am sure of it!
Wow re: the shopping - don't you just *love* getting a bargain. I love being able to stock the freezer up with bargain food and posh speciality breads, I am so glad we swapped going shopping at the weekend and we now go on a weekday evening at about 8pm......so that's worked in our favour.
Can I ask what prompted you to come off that diet? Not that I think it's a bad thing (you know my feelings...) I am just interested in what happened.
Walking everyday is a really good thing to do. Since I started doing it I have stayed *down* a dress size (combined with mostly healthy eating) so I thoroughly recommend it!Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.
Sainsburys Loan: Cleared July 2010
Credit cards: AMEX Airmiles Card: direct debit set to clear balance monthly

Hi LA...of course you can ask...with all the stress last week I ended up eating and was finding it hard to get back to...I also thought that maybe it was unhealthy to lose weight that quick so yesterday I spoke to DH about it and he said why don't you just eat healthily and go to the gym?...I know he's right and it's the most sensible way to do it..so...I've decided to eat only foods less than 5% fat and to watch portion sizes and only snack on fruit if hungry...and when I'm well enough to step up the exercise...I'm not going to bother with slimming groups where I can't eat this or that....and see how I get on...0

Morning all..hope you are all well and that you're enjoying the sunshine!!!!...
Not a lot going on here...got the washing in and will have to nip out in a bit and pay the subs...pop into see my mate at the cafe(more free tea!!!)...come home cook a roast chicken dinner and start on the accounts....
It will take me a couple of days to complete the task as I have last years and this years receipts so far all together so have to sort them into individual months then write them up....then I'm promising myself I will write them up each day so am not faced with this again ...as it's the same every year...
Tommorrow I have to pick up new car at 2pm....tuesday I am having my hair done...plus banking to be done in between and cleaning..so it'll take a few days to do the books...then when done I'll happily take them to the accountant...
So will love and leave you all for now....have a nice day0 -
Hi Minnie ...nice of you to pop in so glad to see you are doing well on the Df front...(read that on another thread) and that work is going well for you.Thank you for saying I'm doing great as sometimes it doesn't feel like it!! but I guess sometimes these things need pointing out..I feel a lot better now thanks but still have weak days and am hoping to be back at work 23rd August.I will give DD nudge for you ...lol...take care and thanks for popping in0
