HI ALL:hello: :hello: :hello:
Well not a lot to report today(nothing unusual then),we picked up the TV and stand from my darling daughters house today(thankyou)for free(very MSE)..so am really happy about that as it's a lot larger than ours....also my DVD player is higher now..so whilst off work I can now watch DVDs:j :j
We've done our shopping today and don't think I will need anything at all next week..so this will leave more to pay off our debt...
Also a screw had come loose on one of the taxi doors(causing an annoying rattle and not being a size of any of our screwdrivers was causing us a real problem)..we popped in to see the welder who fixed the other one...he fixed it in 10 seconds for no charge....thankyou...believe me when I say usually if something is wrong with our car it usually costs hundreds ...so that was a relief!!!:D
Still not heard from Barclaycard!!!wonder how long it will take?
Hopefully Hotpoint will show up tommorrow and I should also hear from Abta shortly0 -
Hi Taxi
I haven't posted on your thread before, but there is nothing like really really trying to avoid doing an essay to start you reading.
Can I just say I read your first few posts and you were so down and panicky. And then how euphoric(sp) you were when you realised how much a month you could save.
So firstly I wanted to say WELL DONE for keeping going no matter what life has thrown at you the last 6 months:beer: . Have a virtual one on me!
Secondly you were mentioning you were bored. Well a routine might help. How about after breakfast your first job of the day is to do your click throughs and searches on the websites you are signed up to? I don't know how many you are signed up for but every little helps!
Then have you thought about joining survey sites to get a bit of extra dosh, or vouchers?
Could you go for a short walk every day? I gather that light exercise is a good idea after such an op, and it would help get you fitter too.
Sorry if this is too much for a first post, but I really felt that you might look back in September and think flipping heck, what I could have done if only I had thought about it some more.
best of luck with your recovery, weight loss, abta and everything else

Hi Chevalier and thanks for posting....thanks for the suggestions I already do the above...my walk is my favourite part of the day...I really look forward to that...in a couple of weeks I'll be allowed to drive again and go swimming so that will relieve boredom...I'll also be able to do light housework ...that'll also help...I hope you've done some of that essay...what are you studying?...I'm going to get a book from the library and learn how to do spreadsheets..so that'll keep me occupied...I am not very good on a computer and want to learn a lot more..so this is an ideal time...what does DOACC stand for please?..sorry for being thick0

Hi everyone:hello: :hello: :hello: :hello: I hope everyone is well;)
What a great day today is...I've just phoned Barclaycard up...and I've just been told I've got it...£8700 limit....WOW:j :j :j :j :j They said my card was processed a couple of days ago..so will get it in a few days.
Hotpoint turned up as well and have put my new handle on the fridge.
I haven't got a lot to report so will be back later0 -
Brilliant news Taxi - I'm so glad for you!
And you'll soon be able to do light housework too - I bet you can't wait!Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Hi Seaxwyn.....funny enough I hate housework usually but I'll be glad to be able to do some...though I think that feeling will wear off ....LOL
I've just got to hear from Abta then that's most outstanding stuff done...second thoughts I need to do my accounts!!!....that'll keep me busy0 -
Hi Taxi
I am studying with the OU to do a diploma in pollution control. This essay is on air quality and it is taxing my brains a bit. Still I have managed to find the right places in the book so that is a start.
DOACC is Dreaming of Another Country Club. It is a thread on here for people who want to emigrate abroad!
And well done on the Barclaycard limit, I guess that will help a fair bit

Hi Chevalier...what an interesting subject..rather appropriate in this day and age with global warming...thanks for answering me...I'm thick I read that thread about DOACC the other week...I've often thought of moving abroad but it seems impossible to us ...as I don't know where I'd like to live and we don't have skills to offer these countries and we are getting older...LOL...so think I will settle for travelling it instead..but you never know...
The Barclaycard I was really shocked at the amount given...I only need to transfer the MBNA balance so that's covered now...you have to read the terms and conditions carefully...The first £5000 is 0% any after is 6.9%...I could see people being caught out with this....I'm sad me I do read T&Cs...
How you getting on with that essay?0 -
Hi everyone...well I got my new Barclaycard today...so have transferred £4800 MBNA balance to it...it cost £135 in BT fees but is better than 16% interest that will come about in Sept..and...this deal lasts until July 1st 2008...
Am just debating about the sofa loan whether to get a £2000 loan or to stick it on the OD...waiting for the bank to phone me with the figures and I'll take it from there...
I phoned the halifax and cancelled one of my CCs today (£4800) and they are going to send me a letter to confirm it...thought they would've put me through to retentions...but they didn't.....there loss anyway...
I'll be cancelling the other one(6350) in a few weeks as well plus the MBNA one...
I feel like I'm getting somewhere at last....can't wait until I only have one left....the MOrgan Stanley for cashback and I pay that in full each month anyway...
Should be able to clear Halifax within 2 months and just have to wait until MBNA is clear.....
Nothing else to report I'm afraid ......so will close for now0 -
Hi Taxi. Wow that is some progress. Still doing the essay. It involves calculations about Nitrogen Dioxide content. And I am not that good at Maths!!! Still am plodding on with it. OH knows that I have to crack on with it this weekend, so he is dealing with the children for as much as possible, plus my mum is coming down to help
