Hi shearebobs, I have (as many of the above posters)had my laminate flooring for 5yrs and never mopped it (with a proper mop). But I have tried all the usual cleaners that you buy. Now I use a microfibre cloth mop along with a spray of orange oil (i think that's it anyway). You would probably still need to get on hands & knees to scrub really stubborn marks but mine always comes up ok and with 3 kids it takes some cleaning. you will also find this is much cheaper than buying all the stuff to go with the brand name cleaners. However, as a stardrops convert (after finding it this weekend) I am waiting to use up my orange oil to try some diluted stardops in a bottle to see how this will work.

  • My local pound shop sell laminate cleaner which you mix with water and mop it over the wood. Much cheaper than wipes.

My husband has just put down a laminate floor in our dining room and hall. My dogs spend most of their time in the dining room and the carpet was just getting smelly and their hair stuck to it like glue. Ive got a spray laminate floor cleaner and I bought a mop that you attach a cloth to and then dispose of after use. The anti static cloths that came with it don't really work with the floor cleaner really, they are more like dusters. Ive used kitchen towel instead which is better. However, I wear trainers and the floor has imprints of my trainers on now! Think it looked better before I cleaned it!!!

What is the best way to do it?

    Clean in your socks!?

We use wet wipe-y type things but a wet cloth does just as well.

I find the sprays make the floor slippy and with 2 stupid springer spaniels who aren't capable of walking from room to room without almost pulling a muscle from slipping all over the place with excitement to get out the door, the less slippy the better!
I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....

    Hi beachbeth,

There's an older thread on cleaning laminate flooring that should help so I've merged your thread with it to keep all the suggestions together.

What's best for cleaning laminate floor?

I normally use a squirt of Stardrops and a bit of Zoflora in a bucket with a mop. However I've noticed white dusty looking marks on the dark laminate in the sitting room and dining room.

Are there any other cheap alternatives which don't leave the white marks?
Here I go again on my own....

I am very clean living. So I hardly ever have to clean anything. To clean mine I usually find that every time I use a wet wipe for some other purpose, I can then re-use it to run round an edge or to scrub at a small area that does have an actual mark. They seem to bring it up a treat. No streaks either. Genius.
