we have laminate in hall , lounge and quarry tiles in kitchen. so all of downstairs is hard floors. i hoover it all then use a microfirbe cloth and diluted start drops. i have 4 cats ( one is a huge fluff ball.) so there is loads of cat hairs unless i hoover it up nothing else really works. and star drops is safe with cats. before that i just used washing up liquid with warm water. but it is a hands and knees job for me as well.

Invest in a microfibre mop. It's like a microfibre cloth but much thicker and fluffier. You can take it off and stick it in the WM when it's dirty. It cleans damp (you shouldn't get lamiate properly wet) and you don't need any chemical cleaners, it's fine just with water.

Mine is Dunelm's own make and cost about a fiver I think, and spare cloth heads are about a quid. You can get them on Sky shopping chanels but they are just the same and cost five times as much.

You'll never go back to any other way of cleaning floors!
Oh dear, here we go again.
  • i use a normal mop and disinfectant..... 3years on and its still fine.... but make sure the mop is pretty dry
does my bum look big in this sig?

  • Hi

Had a beautiful (albeit expensive) laminate floor fitted on saturday and the bloke who fit it said whatever you do don't mop it because the wood starts to warp, just use a brush.
However i two dogs and everytime the light hits the floor i can see bleedin paw prints everywhere, not dirty just prints  . What would people suggest to wipe the floor with (apart from my OH :rotfl: )?

We use a damp mop to wipe the laminate floor, or a mop and the laminate floor cleaner that you have spray on then mop. I can understand not getting it soaking wet but you have to clean it and just sweeping doesnt do it! Use a damp mop and that will not warp the flooring. I have a house with two dogs and children the floor in the kitchen and hall is always subject to wet paws and occassional accidents and still looks good after three years.
