Public sector earn 50% more than private sector

isn't this a result of private sector incomes being driven down rather than public sector pay increasing?
why blame people in the public sector for earning a decent wage rather than look at why people in large areas of the private sector are increasingly underpaid or in insecure jobs with poor or no fringe benefits?
Surely the term "decent" is comparative.0 -

Strange the timing of this and the paper it was promoted. Anyone would think that the Tories were trying to start a propaganda campaign against public sector worker to promote all their salary cuts. Surely not the Tories playing dirty games after all they were very fair with the No AV campaign.
I use to have a better pension in the private sector and I was offered higher wages to leave the public sector to go back.
Also I saw the most inefficiency's in the private sector, which still makes me angry today.:exclamatiScams - Shared Equity, Shared Ownership, Newbuy, Firstbuy and Help to Buy.

" typical state employee earns up to 35 per cent more"
"primary school teachers in state education typically earned £33,140 ... the same job in a private school.. £21,159 .. A middle–earning worker in a private company earns an hourly rate of £10.06, but someone doing the same job in the public sector earns £13.54"
I would have thought that teaching in a state versus a primary school is a broadly comparable job and so I wonder why teachers aren't moving from the private sector to the state sector. At secondary school I can see better discipline might make private schools a more appealing teaching experience. But if you can't cope with four year olds then you are probably in the wrong career regardless of how naughty they are.0 -

It seems to me that the right wing press have a drip, drip divide and conquer agenda, but then what is new? A state school teacher on £35k and private school teacher £21k, yes OK
unless they are employed at
'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -
Lots ot public sector restructuring going on leading to pay increases for some, but overall less people in posts.
Eg 3 supervisors earning 20k, replaced with 1 higher manager earning say 30k.
This will push average wages up, but produces a saving."An arrogant and self-righteous Guardian reading tvv@t".
!!!!!! is all that about?0 -
if the public sector is so well renumerated why aren't the private sector complainers working there?
the only conclusion is that a) the public sector job is more demanding one way or another b) they weren't the best candidate for the job so couldn't get in c) their charitable nature got the better of them and they prefer to work for less money. Those who will not reason, are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not, are slaves. - Lord Byron0 -

Or possibly that by it's nature, the public sector does tend to attract relatively unambtious low achievers. The culture is totally different and much less competitive.0 -
i really can't believe that people post and actually believe this rollox. what's the entry level for ambition and achievement in the private sector - what's the exam like?by it's nature, the public sector does tend to attract relatively unambtious low achievers
how about if we get hostels for public sector workers while we're there...0
