Thought i'd join this thread. we've had two estate agents round today to do the valuations as we're looking to part exchange with Bovis in the south west. we're doing a long distance move and my husbands job transfer is currently on hold to see whether or not we can proceed with the p/x so fingers crossed. We did tell them we are able to complete by the end of June and they have made it clear that if this is the case they will be willing to negiotiate more than usual but i am trying not to be too hopeful!

Well Im with bovis our house was up for 72,000 and Bovis offered us 68,000 in the end. They said to us its coming to half yearly figures so they want to shift as many houses as they can. Well we have had our offer paid our res fee signed all paperwork from solictor and filled out fixtures and fittings forms. Our surveyor has been to survey the new build so just waiting for results. Paid for our searches now we just waiting for Bovis to send their Surveyor out to us now. Darent get excited yet lol

Oggy, we bought using a builder's px scheme earlier this year and as others have stated, it was all subject to surveys particularly as our house was over 25 years old.
As for the timescale, we agreed the px deal on Dec 23rd (bear in mind that we couldn't appoint a solicitor until Jan 4th due to the Christmas and New Year holiday) and we completed on January 28th. By that time the building company had already accepted an offer on our old house!

Ahh right I get it mate. Did you actually make a cheeky offer or did you just go through with it at the price they wanted?

I really am in a situation where the equity in my current house (about 15k) will be wiped away if I take a low amount for the part ex, my savings + equity is all needed for the deposit so I can get at least a 20% mortgage on the new place, so a lot depends on there offer for my house, and then me blagging them down by a fair bit also. Im planning on using there half year figures as a good bargaining chip, if they dont play then its fine - Ill just stay where I am and save up a bit more. Im not getting myself obsessed with this house.. well maybe just a bit.. haha
