Solo is completely different to Maestro and is not as widely accepted as Maestro.
Maestro is not a facility, its the type of card.0 -
Yeah, Solo cards are accepted as Maestro outside of the UK but here it's completely different. Some retailers refuse to accept it.0

Hmm.
I'm sure when I was last in Nationwide the guy in front of me had an Electron card. It looked exactly like my red cashcard but with the Electron logo in the corner.
Which made me even more frustrated that I couldn't get a debit card with them despite working full time and no CCJs or missed payments on record.0 -
i got one with abbey when i was in the midst of my bad credit problems, saying that i should point out that i was an employee at the time so they gave me a overdraft as well0

Not sure if this helps anyone, but after reading all the posts :A on this board about Citibank, I decided to give it a go.
Just called them for application progress status and have been told that we have been accepted (joint account) and that our welcome pack was posted on Friday.
Credit wise, up until April of this year, we had faultless credit records, but unexpected unemployment destroyed everything and left us with defaults left, right and centre!! Plus my wife got a CCJ from GE Capital for her B&Q Store card (They went straight for the jugular after 2 missed payments of £25 each. They didn't seem to understand the concept of "we only get £100 per week in benerfits and that's to manage a family of 5 people...."
anyway, to cut a long story short, we are severely in debt and now with very very poor credit records, but as I say, we have been accepted for the Citibank account.
Lastly, we understand that the debit card is a Visa debit card, but not sure if ours will include the cheque card option.
Oh...and I have found another job (rubbish money tho), but current estimates put it that we will be debt free in about 10 years
Thanks to everyone on this site for their messages and guidance.0 -
