BF wants to clear my debt...

To be honest OP I feel like you did at the beginning of this thread. I would feel uncomfortable taking the money. I would be worried about what would happen if it all went pear shaped, and you owed him all that money. Now I know that what I am saying is the opposite of everyone else, but just thought it was something to consider
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Thanks Chevelier and it is a damn good point and one that everyone must think about, it isn't all honey and roses. If it does go wrong then it will be a total mess anyway. For Tax reasons it looks like half the land will be given to me shortly. If It did go wrong and I owe him money then so be it, I have no intention not to pay my debt I just now see it as savings. I don't think it will happen but if it does i'll deal with what happens not a could have been.

Hi there!
Thought I would say hello as I'm in a similar situation (although the figures are a bit smaller!). I'm going to be moving abroad next Feb to move in with my boyfriend - and he's said that he will pay off what's left of my credit card when that time comes (hope it will be way under £1000!).
My initial thoughts were exactly like yours - it's my responsibility to pay it off myself.
Then my next thoughts were a lot like most of the suggestions - accept his offer and pay him back into a savings account, that could be used for something in the future as we set up house together.
I think the main shift in my thinking is that I don't have to do everything alone - I can accept help from others (like you said above). It's different I think from sponging off people, being ungrateful etc if you get what I mean.
