Does anyone 'Feel Bad' About winning?

Hey,
I totally feel the same way so Im really glad its not just me!
The things I have won have all been sort of experiences/ holidays so its quite hard not to tell people about them as I have to explain where Im going! I didn't expect people to be so jealous/ judgemental!
Im off to Canada though in June from a comp and which is so wonderful I just dont care what people say
Well done you for your wins kemo_2002 they have come from your hard work!!0 -
Yes I know exactly how you feel and feel so bad that I don't tell anyone about my wins anymore as some people are just horrible to me
It's no secret that I enter many many many comps and they openly admit that they do not so they have no reason to say what they do.
I never used to win anything really but after reading about 'compers' last year I decided to see what it was all about and see if I could change my luck and it worked as it really is all about the amount you enter (and of course a little bit of luck from the comping fairy too!)
It's just jealousy at the end of the day but it still hurts.Officialy comping since October 2010!2014 wins: Kindle Fire HDX and £25 Kindle Voucher0 -
Does anyone 'Feel Bad' About winning?
no, i don't, majority of my wins go to friends, family, charity fete's to help thier funds, etc, it's lovely to win & you shouldn't feel guilty xxplease be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -
I sometimes feel bad about it. People do sometimes get funny about it, they ask you what you win and the they make you feel like you are showing off. I've won about 7 holidays abroad and 4 shorter breaks in the last three years. It is very hard to keep it quiet but I don't tell lots of people now I'm a comper.Top wins in 2018: Trip to Iceland, helicopter ride over london, couples massage, £300 flight from Pringles, trip to Paris, cocktail making class and afternoon tea up the shard. .
Top wins in 2017:holiday to the Bahamas, trip to Paris, meal with champagne, a week in a manor house in France with £500 spending money.0 -
I don't feel bad about comping and i don't feel that i should.
The only people that know i "comp" are my immediate family and a handful of friends. They never really ask me "what have you won?" In fact, they don't ask me at all. They only ask that i keep an eye out for certain kind of competitions. A lot of what i've won (nothing amazing) is given away to my family as random gifts anyway, and at the time of entering i've had them in mind. If i was to win a holiday i'd take either my Mother or one of my close friends.
I'm also not one of those people that enter every single comp just for the sake of it. I admit, i did this when i was a "comping newbie," but eventually discovered that i was just wasting time that i really didn't have. I only enter comps that can benefit people that i know or myself.
My only issue with comping thus far, is sometimes feeling that people are taking advantage and are ungrateful of your wins. I've had a particular bad experience with one friend and she will not benefit from any of my "wins" again.0 -
I don't feel guilty - my family usually benefit from my wins - they get better Christmas & Birthday presents than if I had had to buy them. I have occasionally won things that I don't want - usually a runners up, when I've hoped for the main prize - these have gone into a box in a cupboard - which I have now started to go through and ebay - (first time ever selling on ebay, & been comping about 5 years) the stuff that no one wants - proceeds for which will buy me something that I do want.0

My family and freinds sometimes say things like that - but then I point out how much of my free time is spent glued to the internet entering comps.
I also point out the whole - if they don't enter they aren't going to win.
Most family has now had things of me or shared in my wins - I took my little sister on my vip epsom win last year, my big sister is going on my spa break win in june, given out a load of tresseme hair products and a few pairs of tights away etc..Not really comping any more as too ill - but hoping to win £1000+ in 2017 in cash prizes - watch this space!0 -
i dont feel guilty about my wins either! I get called a saddo by my friends/family for entering comps but then they are envious when i win something so i just shrug it off!! My moto 'U gotta be in it to win it' so just ignore them and carry on with what makes YOU happy :0) x0

I can relate to all these posts, I often feel people aren't that happy for me when I win! I too have decided not to tell people when I've won something in future - they can just think I'm able to afford all these things! Plus, I still think my daughter thinks the xbox we saved up to buy her for christmas was a win!1/1/10 total debt £4,311. Debt today £1,0820

I do not think you should feel bad about winning other people could enter too if they wanted,I do not feel bad about any of my wins only time I think I would is some of the comps with a real specialist prize, but I dont enter these as I hope the prize goes to someone who really needs or will appreciate it but thats a personal choice.
As long as your happy dont worry what anyone else thinks or says(jealousy brings out the worst in some good people!)2010 3,993(nothing in december!)
2011 £1200 approx
And my thanks to all the fantastic people who post comps and help each other and have made this a great forum0
