Does anyone 'Feel Bad' About winning?

Over the past few months we have been very lucky with our wins, about 5k worth of stuff between us!

Everytime i tell DH parents what we have won each time i feel like a am made to feel more and more guilty.

I get comments like 'you lot are so jammy' 'we never min anything' 'youve got all the luck' 'i wish we had money to spend like you do'

i told them about site and they do enter, but only occasionally, then stops then starts, ive told them how many to enter and it is just luck, but ive gotten to the point now i dont want to tell them if we win because i am made to feel bad.

Ive even thought about posting a win to them so they win SOMETHING! dont get me wrong, they are lovely people and they are worse of than us and i would LOVE them to win something big (hense why i keep telling them!)

AND i give them stuff i win if we dont want/need/or have a use for it..

anyone else?

i wish i had any wins to make me feel guilty :( lol but i know what you mean i had a better year last year and everytime i told people they used to say the same thing and i always used to say "well if you're not entering then you not gonna be winning", you got to put in the time and hope the comping fairy is looking down on you....(which apparently she is not doing to me lately!)

good luck on your wins i am sure if they have some wins they will get the bug and win as much as you do :)....send some luck my way please :)

Everybody says to me that I'm jammy & they never win anything. I always say 'Do you enter any comps?' & their usual response is no, so how are they going to win if they don't enter. I enter hundreds a week & average a prize at least every other day, sometimes every day but as you know we can all have dry spells where we win nothing for ages.

I recently was lucky enough to win an amazing all expenses trip to Kenya sponsored by BT & some of the BT staff were on the holiday with us so we became facebook friends. One of them posted a comment that she was going to start comping as one of the prize winners (me) who was a loyal BT customer had won £8000 worth of prizes in 3 months & one of her friends said that I was not a loyal BT customer but just some chancer. I was furious as everybody enters competitions with the goal of winning & I replied saying that I WAS a loyal BT customer & had been for 30 years & that she shouldn't judge people she's never met & that I was NOT a chancer just someone who has an amazingly enjoyable & very profitable hobby.

Don't feel guilty for winning, they should be happy for you & I think it's really kind of you to share your winnings but, to be honest, if they're treating you like that, they don't really deserve it but you do. They need to start entering more comps to up their chance of winning but it's best to enter a comp with no expectations of winning, it's better just to think of it as an enjoyable hobby & any wins are just a bonus.

You keep on entering & I hope the wins continue & stop feeling guilty xxx

I agree with what liz said, don't let other people's jealousy stop you from enjoying your prizes.

I don't tend to tell many family members that i win from comps, as most i give away as presents. I don't want them to think i never buy any presents if that makes sense. It has saved me a fortune in gifts though.

You shouldn't feel bad, if you enter and win it's just good luck isn't it, everyone who enters has the same chance, but jealousy and bad feelings always play a part in competitions and there will always be sore losers or jealousy.

I love entering, whether I win or not, but I don't tell people what I have won like friends and family, I don't want people to think we are rubbing any good fortune we have in anyones faces iyswim? I enjoy sharing my wins and hearing about other peoples here though, like minded people all enjoying the same hobby, no jealousy or bitterness :)

i know what you mean but its their choice. If they cant be bothered to persevere and keep entering even if they aren't winning that's their problem not yours. Some people are like that they hate when other people have good fortune but wont do anything to help themselves. Im at the stage where i deliberately tell everyone about any of my wins now just to annoy them and make them jealous. !!!!!y i know but so what ..

I spend hours comping so I don't feel guilty about winning! I give lots of things away to my family and friends anyway.

I think you can be made to feel bad especially if someone also has money worries but in the end all you can do is encourage them to enter and remind them that most of the time you put in the effort and win nothing! The point is, that, is how you use your free time and luckily you were rewarded but sometimes you do just sit there and think why bother but instead of giving up you kept entering so everything you won you deserve! The main comment I always get is with the ITV comps were I get told ' I entered five times and never win!' so I remind them that its very rare to win from them and I remember when it was 30 entries each for the ITV comps but I did them all and still couldn't win! Also like Magical I don't mention most wins as I give them as presents but this xmas I gave my friend a camera I won but told her it was a win so she knew it had no guarantee -she still appreciated it and really needed a new camera so I felt less down about not winning much as I won something someone I cared about needed. Its those moments that matter and hopefully in the years you've won you have been able to make a lot of people happy as well as made your own life better so I hope you can remember that next time you feel bad. Hope you keep winning and thanks for the post as it reminded me why I comp :)

I wouldn't say I feel guilty, but I know exactly what you mean Kemo. I encourage everyone I know to enter comps as I want them to win & experience the joy of comping just like I do. However, people do keep telling me how lucky I am, although I tell them I put the time in & enter comps religiously every single day. Some give me looks as if I'm lying, other people seem fascinated by my wins. I think very few people are really interested in my wins, so I very rarely mention them any more. Plus a lot of them are given as gifts so I too don't always like to say anything.
