vl2588 Are you going to the ??? call them up get through to the Colposcopy department. It will be a answer machine, just leave your name and date of birth and say you want to cancel and make another appointment.A really nice woman called me back with in the hour as i wanted to know how long i have to wait for a appointment.
You wont be able to pick a day you can go but you can then have a day when your not so busy at work.
    Good luck.

I had abnormal cells burnt off 12 years ago. My consultant put purple dye on them so he knew exactly where they were.

I had a cluster on the front of my cervex. The dye didn't disappear further up, so the nurse said that was good and it would mean the doc could kill them all.

I was abit sore for a few weeks, and was told to rest for the first week. My DH got told to 'leave me alone' for 6 weeks. :rotfl: I had an immediate biopsy afterwards, and it was clear. I then had 6 monthly smears, followed by yearly, then back to every 3 years. I have them every 5 years now though, and I'm due one this September.

Sorry to hear that Zoesmummy, be positive, medicine is amazing these days and they WILL get it xxxx

As far as my experience goes, well, they didn't do the full diathermy loop excision as they said I couldn't drive 3-5h straight afterwards etc etc but they did do biopsy, waiting on results. Re-booked DLE for next month and have day off and friend to come with. I will work next day. I'm much more confident now as the consultant was so so nice and gave me so much more info than I got from GP surgery (long story but they told me about the smear result on a train and I had no letter!). Really appreciate help on here, thanks!

Re my work, I am still in my probation period and it's a small company so I feel more responsibility to not have my projects go wrong by not turning up to meetings etc!

PS Not RBH, Oxford and they were lovely!

I hope i dont have to have the DLE but rather that done than burying my head in the sand and hoping it will all go away.

    Good luck with your results.

Yes it's nearer me too but long story ended up at Oxford. My aunt told me it's not that bad and after the biopsy (practise run!) I am dreading it far less.

Good luck to you too xxx

And i am still waiting ! its been 9 weeks now .And even if i get a letter tomorrow it will still be another 2 week till appointment. Completely !!!!ed off with it now.
  • Imho - I received results from smear and it was severe. RBH have sent me an appointment for 31st Aug. I can't do this as my best friends wedding so trying to go private (which is a mare with referrals and having things authorised by Bupa!)

I thought 3 weeks was quite a long wait but am panicking that they are rushing me through now!

edwards23 My god yours is severe and your still supposed to wait till 31st August !
I have spent most of the 9 weeks i have been waiting for my appointment looking on internet about Colposcopy and the government guidelines for appointment times . Bad results should be seen within 2 weeks .Borderline in 62 days.
I am off to my own doctor today as so stressed out with it all now thats its affecting my health.I called hospital again and got the usual answer machine and left a message and they never replied.
I did look to go private but it could cost up to £5.000 .I think £1.500 just for the Colposcopy. If you need treatment you can then go back to NHS but you go back to the end of the waiting list.
I am now at the stage where i just want my life back instead of waiting for a letter every day.

It should be law that when you get the letter that says your smear was abnormal it should come with prescription for Valium or Prozac , Just to get you through the flipping time you have to wait to get seen.

Just editing this Edward23 its 3/5 days wait for appointment if its severe so how they can make you wait over 2 weeks i never know .
