Tesco Direct have reduced the price one day after I ordered

Yesterday I ordered a projector from Tesco Direct and paid £255 on my debit card over the counter in store. This was the same price that was showing on the website.
Today I checked again on the website as I wanted to get an accessory and needed to know the overall dimensions of the projector. The price has been reduced to £250.
My projector has been ordered for delivery to store and I can collect it from Monday afternoon.
Do I have any right to demand the difference in price be refunded?
Presumably if I return the product with receipt then I can get a full refund then order it again at the lower price, but that could potentially add days to my waiting time.

eagerly awaits the "if it had gone up in price would you be offering the difference" comments....
That aside, no, you have no rghts. Cancel and re-order or take the hit.0 -

No.
Would you be posting here asking what to do if it had gone up £5?
You could politely ask Tesco, but they don't have a legal obligation to do so.Presumably if I return the product with receipt then I can get a full refund then order it again at the lower price, but that could potentially add days to my waiting time.
Yes you could, and it wouldn't be potentially, as Tesco wouldn't let you re-buy the product you just returned. But really, over £5?0 -
Buy a second one at the lower price and return the original one and get a refund.

Of course not. Why on Earth do people always say this?Would you be posting here asking what to do if it had gone up £5?
Why would a customer lose any sleep over a company with a turnover like Tesco potentially losing out on a fiver? Customers are quite rightly concerned with their own pockets, not the company's.
Seems like a silly thing to say.

Fair enough. That's as I suspected but it's dissapointing.
I'll take the hit, I was prepared to pay £255 yesterday and still am today really. £5 is a small percentage of the product value, Just wish I hadn't seen the fact that it'd gone down!0 -

You can ask and they can say yes or no, no harm in asking, but it is only £5. for gawds sake on a £250/255 item, (2% of the original price), is it worth the hassle?
.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
a 'right to demand' doesn't mean I'd have gone in there demanding. I would always start gently and politely but if the initial request is declined then whether or not I have a consumer right to what I am asking for would influence what would happen next. Of course I would always remain polite and remember that company policies are not the fault of the sales staff but the gentle request can easily become a more assertive request, or I might ask to speak with a senior staff member if I know that I have a right that is being refused.
Thank you for your help everyone. I might ask politely but will probably not worry about it. It's a very small percentage of the product value that we're talking about and I know that I agreed to pay yesterdays asking price so that's what I'll do.0 -
5 pound is five pound and i would cancel my order and re order at the lower price unless i needed it urgently .it will be in store so after you cancel you can get a partner or a friend to re order it ,or to be honest i see no reason why you cannot change your mind and re order it again at the lower price .if you save 5 pound every time you get the Chane it really does add up .0
