  • It's as much as a surprise to my bf than his family (if not more) when they open thier presents on x-mas morning

I find out what they might like, buy them, wrap them, etc...

I suppose he did bring the decorations down from the loft last night

Why do we let these men get away with it like this?

Because women let 'em! I think they don't bother because they get someone else to do it for them. I suspect that even if they had no one, many men wouldn't bother to do it properly or even do Christmas at all!

Well in my case it's cos I am such a control freak I couldn't bear for them to do it and get it wrong. I am the same at school, because of a medical condition I was supposed to be taking it easy especially with regard to the Nativity this year:rolleyes: Now I am directing the whole thing, organising the costumes, and generally sorting most things out. The other two (male) teachers are very happy to let me get on with it. However to be honest if I let them do it I would be worrying so much about the final result that it would be worse for me than doing it myself.:o

    RIGHT!!!!!

I buy, hide then wrap both DSs presents. I get up on xmas morning and prepare breakfast for dozing wife (Bucks Fizz and a bacon butty). Supply said wife with enough coffee to raise the dead until she can focus. Build DSs presents (inevitable Hot Wheels or similar, amongst others). Prepare, cook and usually clear and load DW xmas dinner (with pud). Prepare evening snacks. Memorise the TV schedules so that nothing is left unwatched or unrecorded. Gather wrapping paper and bag it

    Am I missing anything.....?

EDIT : yes I am. i put the decs and tree up, too :p

Why can't I be married to someone like you. I do all that while my husband thinks Christmas just happens on its own and has no idea of the preparation involved.
There again I wouldn't want you to do it all - just to share half of the work would be enough.
