o2 - Same deal from another retailer?
o2 have an offer where if you're already with them, you can have a 12 month contract. I have had a SIM only contract for 13 months and o2 confirmed that I would qualify for a 12 month contract with a handset if I wanted to upgrade, however, they don't do the handset I want (Desire HD).
If I were to go to CPW or P4U, would they be able to offer the same 12 month contract for upgrading customers deal that o2 offer?
I'm a very (very) low user so would be looking at 50 or 100 mins a month, a minimal amount of texts (100 would probably do) and 500mb. I don't want to have to mess around with cash back and I don't mind putting some money towards the handset. The only thing I dont want is an 18 month contract. My budget is a maximum of £25 a month and preferably less.
Ideally, I'd buy a SIM free handset but they're really expensive.

I think elsewhere you you can get a better deal as a new customer than for upgrading. However, I think Desire HD for £25x12 is an unrealistic target.0 -
o2 don't do the Desire HD full stop.
It's hard for me to work out whether it's cheaper to pay £350 ish for the handset and stay on my SIM only £15 a month deal, or pay more for a contract.
Is there a formula I can use?
o2's upgrade deal gives you the 18 month price but you only have to sign up for 12 months."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -

You airtime costs not more than £10x12 (in fact you'll get much more than 50+100+500 for £10)....

I don't know where you can buy HD for £350, but if you really can the cost of 12 months package is £350+£120=£470. Compare this to the total cost of a contract with a phone.
I hope you don't mean quidco/TCBI don't want to have to mess around with cash back0 -
I forgot to add that if I stay with o2, I get £5 a month off my home phone and broadband.
I don't know how Quidco or TCB (Top Cash Back?) work and I don't want to have to think about remembering to claim money back.
I have a Wildfire at the moment and a buyer lined up for when I upgrade. They will buy it for £100."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -
Play have the handset for £390, I could buy it second hand for less."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0

Take extra £60 into account then.I forgot to add that if I stay with o2, I get £5 a month off my home phone and broadband.
Get to know then:Top Cashback SitesI don't know how Quidco or TCB (Top Cash Back?) work
You don't have to.and I don't want to have to think about remembering to claim money back.
This information is absolutely irrelevant if you are determined to change the phone.I have a Wildfire at the moment and a buyer lined up for when I upgrade. They will buy it for £100.0 -
Thanks Grumbler. Preliminary calculations are showing I'd be better off with an 18 month contract than buying a phone and having a SIM only deal."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0

I spoke to O2 today, and they do Desire HD on 12 month upgrade contract...You have to phone the upgrades team though, as they're not doing it via online.
Hope that helps! No expert, No money, No problem!! :j"MIKE'S MOB"0 -
Really? That's great news.
I'll be giving them a call. Thanks!"If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -
Actually, this deal with Dial-A-Phone looks alright. Is there anything I'm missing?
