Search glitches

Hi everyone,

We will be running some tests this afternoon to see if we can improve service performance. These may have an impact on search and cause glitches. Search running slower. New posts taking longer to appear.

Yep. I've had some glitchs.

One example when searching recent posts.

On the first search posts made today showed up. A little later I repeated the same search, and no posts from today showed up. Repeating again, the posts were again displayed in the search results.

So the recent cached post index that the search is being done on seems to be coming and going at times.

This thread containing a single post was created on Saturday at 13:57. Over six hours later look at these results using search. All the search terms used should have found the thread and eventually they all worked.



I had noticed this problem with other threads earlier, but didn’t document it.

Experienced users know that very recent posts will not show up in search results, and some also know that a change to a post sometime after it has been posted (using “edit”) will not show up until the next day.

This problem is new and has only happened since the maintenance on Friday morning. I hope this is just temporary as stated in post #1, and if it is, then that is OK. But if you think that search is now working properly then you had better have another look.

On the competitions forum, experienced users who know how to search properly are posting duplicates as their searches are not finding the previous thread. The BG’s are also receiving a lot more requests for merges.

Just want to confirm that results as described above are STILL HAPPENING.

Periodically everything posted since 06/05 does not show up in any search results.

It would be nice if someone acknowledged that there is a problem and that work was ongoing to solve it.

The techies are aware and have been working on it, just focusing resources on working on it rather than posting.
