Thanks for welcoming me guys! :hello:
Panicked! - I've started watching OBEM and am terrified already! The pain and the foot long needles. EWWW!
Trouble is, after making sure everything is in order before getting pregnant, in years to come the little cherubs will not appreciate the hard work that went in to making sure their arrival was so thought out!
I'm keeping a dairy of events to show the effort and fore-thought, so said 'baby' can appreciate in years to come the hardwork! i/e don't get credit cards and loans in your early twenties that you are (in a round about way) still paying off in when you turn thirty!0 -
Been preping for the big day since last September '10, when I came off the injection and moved over to the pill; as friends warned us the injection was notorious for still stopping progress after one year!
However, on pill now and was planning to come off to concieve at xmas '11 but then I took a really selfish thought that if I conceive in Dec then maternity leave would be over winter (boo) and I would be huge in the summer heat, so am waiting till May/June '12 so it would be spring/summer on maternity!)
And, not to be a downer, but realistically you've around a 20-30% chance each cycle of getting pregnant with well timed BD... around 85% get pregnant within a year... it's the minority that manage to plan when a baby will come, and don't forget they can be early and late too
I only say this so that you don't start TTC, having waited an extra 6 months and then it takes 6 months to get preg and you needn't've waited cos it ends up being the same time of year, iyswim?Obviously I hope it doesn't take that long, but we see a lot of ladies come to the TTC thread and then get really down because it hasn't happened as quick as they were expecting.
I hope I don't come across too depressing? :silenced:"I am indelibly stained by hope and longing" - Nuts in May0 -

Thanks for the info Zippy. I didn't realise those statistics, although I had heard it takes most people a year to conceive on average. I must remember that and not get too disheartened if it doesn't happen for a while!0 -

Not at all!
I think it is good for us waiters to have a more realistic view of what to expect, so that we don't build all our hopes up and believe it will happen 1st try.
Trying to convince OH of this reality is proving trickier though. He seems convinced that his sperm is super sperm, and that they'll overcome any problems! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Bless him!February wins: Theatre tickets0 -

Perhaps you could put this on a t-shirt for him! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -

No pressure there then..I've got to produce a son AND in August!! :rotfl::rotfl:0 -

Hahahahaha, brilliant!
Magicboo - Good God! He wants the month to be spot on too! I thought mine was bad enough with insisting on two boys!
He's adamant we'll have boys, but judging by the averages in my family, the words 'You'll be lucky!' spring to mind! Although, his family tends to have more boys, so he *may* be in luck.February wins: Theatre tickets0 -
My darling, darling DH said to me over the weekend..
"I'd like my son to be born in August because I was born in August, my Dad was born in August and my Grandad was born in August.."
No pressure there then..I've got to produce a son AND in August!! :rotfl::rotfl:
God bless our men! :rotfl:
My DH used to say, 'I want a baby for my 30th birthday...' as in, actually born on his birthday! No idea how I was supposed to magic that one up! Now he's decided he can't wait that long so I'm off the hook!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
