Hi all.

I thought I'd post a new thread as I don't really feel I belong in the TTC thread just yet. I really REALLY want to be on the trying to conceive thread, but financially we're not quite ready yet.

If anyone is in the same boat, or is dithering as to whether to start (or increase) their families, feel free to post. We're quite a friendly bunch, although the thread does quieten down at times.

This site is also useful for 'getting to know your body' and tracking ovulation. If you're waiting to try, it can be helpful to know what is 'normal' for your body to help avoid symptom spotting

*Update March 2012*

I have now graduated to the TTC thread, but I do still read and post on this thread. I know the TTC thread can be a little intimidating when you first come over / start reading, so I (and some other TTCers) pop over here from time to time to answer any questions.

    Howdy COMP!

Thanks for starting the thread :)

I am in a similar position to you, in that I want/need to clear my debts first before TTC'ing. Maternity leave here is only 5 months, and that is only because EU law has stated it has to be! lol. Although we could live off OH's income, we want a bit more security than that for obvious reasons and savings behind us first.

In preparation though, I have come off the pill and am currently using an IUD, so that my cycles can regulate themselves and I also get a feel for what is normal for me, and what isn't.

I am taking some multivitamins, but haven't sourced out any Folic Acid yet, as I don't think it will be necessary until around September time.

We expect to be TTC'ing from January 2012 onwards.

I'm having an Ebay weekend this weekend to declutter and gain more money to a)replace the laptop and b) bust the debt quicker!

Not long until your wedding now COMP! Wahooooo! You must be soo excited!! :D

Oh, c'mon guys, come back to the TTC thread!:j
  • Yay! You joined me! I had visions of me talking to an empty thread with tumbleweed blowing around.

We're quite fortunate in a way - my dad is medically retired and my mum only works three days a week so they are able to help with childcare. They have offered, it's not like I'm assuming! I had a chat with my boss at christmas and discussed the issue of promotions (or lack of) and I was told I'd be promoted 'within the year' so I'm hoping to get that 'under my belt' before TTC.

The wedding really is racing round now. To be honest, I just want it to be over with. I hate being centre of attention at the best of times.

Do you reckon you're in Holland for the long term?

I really do appreciate the sentiment, but I don't feel like I belong and I don't want to upset / offend anyone over there. :o

Oh QQ, I wish I could, but there are obviously some people who really don't want us there and I don't want the upset to continue. You guys need to keep your PMA up and I feel that our presence may have helped it to nosedive :(

Glad you popped in though! How's it going with the hcg shots etc? How are you feeling?

I for one am really sorry that you feel you've had to start a new thread.

I echo what QQ says and would love you to come back to the TTC board. As far as I'm concerned it's where you are belong and I think you are more than welcome by the majority of the ladies on there.

Hahaha, yeah I'm here and I hope Rebekah will come and post too and that we have some other joiners too, over time. I'm sure we're not the only ladies in the same/similar situation.

Wow, you are lucky! Although my parents would offer, they are in the UK and we are here so logistics is a problem! :rotfl:

Ohhh the promotion sounds fab! Good luck, am keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you! OH is hoping for another good bonus this year as they are already over their sales target ;) But, I'm not expecting much this year as a) work is quiet and b) I haven't had the best year work wise as my personal problems and emotions spilled over a bit. Work were very helpful and supportive, but I don't expect a bonus when I wasn't entirely 'present' for the whole year, but who knows.

Oh, the wedding will be here and over before you know it. ALways the way, you wait and wait and wait, and then it starts and in a blink of an eye, the day is done! I hope it all goes really well for you and your hubby to be! :D

Yeah, we will be here long term, provided nothing goes wrong with OH's work. He is getting the sense that a merger or takeover is about to happen, so he's quite nervous. But I love it here, and the healthcare is great!

Awww! I miss you guys already! :o

Couldn't you have had a "I don't give a sh*it if your TTCing or WTTC" thread so I could join too? I feel a bit like a lot of people don't like me much on the other thread :(

Oh well I will just have to make them like me! ;)

Good luck ladies and I hope you won't mind me coming for a chat evey now and again?

  • That's just it though - we're welcome by the majority. Even if the risk of upseting / offending people is slight, the risk is still there. The last thing I want to do is cause a divide on the main TTC thread. These arguments will keep happening, so it's probably for the best that the threads are separated. I will still lurk on there, but post over here.
