Yes CitiBank credit check but it appears that they are more flexible when it comes to accepting new customers than other banks.

They seem to assess each application individually rather than a computer declining the applications without a second thought. Their applications team do seem to manually assess the applications rather than a computer.

As a result, some of our members with poor credit histories have made successfull applications to open a current account with them. Which isn't half bad as CitiBank are world renowned bank with a good reputation.

I wouldn't hold up hopes for an overdraft facility though.

There not part of the same banking group, they just have an agreement in place to allow CitiBank UK customers to use LTSB branches to do their day to day banking.

Unless someone can correct me on this?

I've just applied (through quidco, of course!) after reading this thread - my credit rating is on the worst side of diabolical, so if they accept me then they'd accept anyone.

I'll keep you posted on this thread with how my application goes.

Well it seems they've accepted me cause i've recieved my three PIN numbers & so they'd accept everyone by the looks of it, it's about time more banks trusted us, isn't it discrimmination to treat us less favourably due to bad debt? lol Personally having been in debt i'm now never gonna mess up a bank account again & I'm so glad this account was mentioned, still wondering what the catch is though lol
  • We're still waiting, getting a bit nervy about it now, so going to chase tomorrow, really need a joint account with them as I can a sole current acc no problems but as my hubby has had major credit probs, even getting a basic joint acc has been very difficult.

  • Don't get nervy, I know what its like they seemed to take forever with mine but they will come through in the end. It's great to think that when all the other banks tell you no way that there is a bank who will help you to re-establish your credibility.

  • Our account is open and we have received our welcome pack, just awaiting cards now, I rang up today (before the post came!!!) we're getting the 3 in 1 card apparently, which is great for my husband and me as I am sick of only being able to get a basic joint account with a solo or electron card.
