Lipsy

I bought a dress from Lipsy and tried it on at home. Upon trying it on at home I took off the label as it was quite a small dress with a very large label.
I realised I did not think I would wear this dress so I took it back to the shop with the original receipt for a refund. I was not aware that Lipsy operated a 14 day policy, rather than the usual 28 day policy. Even though I was only a couple of days over this date and had the original recipt staff completely dismissed me, even though I explained I just did not know their returns policy was different.
I was not even allowed an exchange of the product, something that I have been able to do in other stores without even the receipt.
I contacted customer service as I was very unhappy with this. The email I received back was barely literate to be honest, and just said they would stick with the decision made in store.
I am very unhappy as I have never heard of a store operating such a strict 14 day only policy, and refusing to do anything with a new unworn item with original receipt.
I am now stuck with this dress I will never wear.
What should I do?
Thank you

try it on in the store next time?
Seriously though, thats why changing rooms exist, additionally, removing the tags, no matter how big they may be cause the store a problem as they have to be reattached.
But in any case, the return time is a diversion, the real issue is, the store has no legal requirement to refund unless faulty or not as described.0 -
Not very helpful. I have never come across a store that has refused refund with original receipt.0

You should have checked the receipt - If it was me I would sell it on ebay if I wasn't going to wear it - Lipsy dresses have a good resale value on there.0

You asked a question, I replied with the legal obligation, which is what you asked for, I WAS helpful, because I took the time to reply to you with what you asked, wether this is a precedent or not that they won't accept a refund with a reciept I bet its on more than one sign in the store...
Next time I'll just let someone else tell you the same thing0 -
You shouldn't have bought PPI0

I'd say flog it on eBay. You cannot force the store to refund you, although you could keep contacting them in the hope that they change their mind.0

They are not even under a legal obligation to offer 14 days. That is purely down to their goodwill. You removed the labels, and exceeded the time limit.
You wouldn't have got a refund/exchange even if you'd left the labels on as it was outside their generous 14 day offer.
And there is NO such thing as a "usual 28 day policy"One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0 -

Unfortunately most people only learn about their right of return when they want to return something and find they can't. Shops don't have to give a refund unless there's something wrong with the item, however a lot of high street retailers do allow returns if you change your mind as an addition to your consumer rights, and most set a time limit on this. In this case you were outside of that limit which appears to be why they refused the refund.
The main site has a good article on what your rights as a consumer precisely are:

I have never come across a black swan, but I don't discount their existence.
I hope this was helpful. If you think of it as 'us' verses 'them', then it's probably your side that are the villains.0
