.......Nah. THATS going too far.
I had that yesterday after taking my new Mazda6 into the garage and having them say nothing wrong with it. It was only there a few hours and I arranged a rental car for the day too. :rolleyes:0 -

Having replaced my old CRT monitor with a TFT I can see the problem here, people upgrading without a understanding of the technology. I learnt from this mistake assuming newer = better when it doesnt.
LCD's save space and presumably use less power as well so cheaper eleccy bills, but thats it. They have poor viewing angles (how many of you have the entire household sit bang in front of the screen>) and less colours as well. They are sharper which makes them look more pixelated. This at a time when HD is been rolled out helps the likes of sky sell their hdtv service since PDTV on a LCD is much worse then on a CRT and I wouldnt be surprised if PDTV on a crt looks better then HDTV on a LCD.
I hope crts dont get phased out soon as I want a bigger tv for my living room but will get CRT, matured technology good viewing angles and no ghosting.
curious also why it needs to have a digital tuner when sky, freeview, cable all will work with analogue tvs.0 -
Samsung do a slimline HD-Ready CRT telly for about £400 for a 32" iirc.
BUT the picture apparently isn't as good as LCDs (according to a review I was reading in WHSmiths the other week...)British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
looks like a market favouring review then (false) like the other guy mentioned because CRT blows LCD apart for pic quality. The we all need a spanking new tv for digital is just scaremongering to boost the tv economy, my digi sky tv box powering my crt isnt going to suddenly stop working on the analogue switch off.
For comparison to CRT pic quality plasma is closer.
I wish I got a tv when sainsburies were doing those offers last summer £140 for a 36" crt widescreen missed my chance because they very hard to get hold off now.0 -

Ok will put it another way will the prices off those tvs drop after Christmas wot you think...0 -
Just to clarify a point here. This is TTBOMK. (Someone will correct me if I'm wrong:))
The digi/sky/cable box bypasses the analogue tuner built into the telly.
If you had a digital TV and plugged SKY into it it would do exactly the same. Bypass it.
Effectively a monitor is all that you need.
This you get with a telly, plus a tuner, be it anny or digi."Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0
