  • i think the argos acoustic solutions hd lcd and the wollies crown 32" lcd are the best value for money as they include the wall brackets and a table top stand.

BTW, acoustic solutions and crown tv's are the same ones- I have the crown 32" and the 15" acoustic solutions and they are identical.

but i am sure there is someone out there who wishes to tell me different?.......

if anyone could pass on any advise on recommended LCD TVs ( I want a 37", the wife a 32") then it would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

Andy: you don't need to be too much of a techie to skim through the user posts here:

    http://www.avforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=155

    Patience is required though. ;)

Digital Spy is a more wide-ranging user forum and so not as focused as AV Forums, but is always worth including in a search. This current thread's typical:

    Good hunting.

I dare say that each has their own priorities depending on their circumstances. I've yet to see an LCD that can hold a candle to my JVC CRT for standard broadcasts and, since I prefer not to line Rupert's pockets, there's not enough HD content to convince me to change just yet.

Er. . . took the words right out of my mouth, zappahey. Mine's a JVC, too. :j

Perhaps if you'd restricted your post to the last sentence where that was the one point you'd actually made clearly and concisely that may have helped. To be honest, by that stage i'd lost the will to live.

We don't all need a Charles Darwin like Origin Of The Species thesis and lecture on buying a TV.

what is with all the !!!!!ing? c'mon people this is a forum, people write their views, if they are wrong, then you can be polite and correct them- why tear someones head off?

I see a lot of this and I think it is bad taste, people write on this site to help us all out- be polite, after all it is now the season of Goodwill- isnt it, God im not Christian, oh pooh, maybe ive wrote all of this and I am wrong for doing so- please dont take it to heart- please dont bite me!!

Blimey, i'd forgotten all about that.

I think you'll find it was a bit of heated good natured banter and nothing personal.

If you want to dredge it up again there was a bit of history behind it but I think we've all moved on a bit.
  • OK, I bought this 32" TV 2 weeks ago now, and I am pretty fed up of it now.
Only reason I say this, is due to the picture freezing very very often.

At first I thought it was just on high speed action, i.e sports, but its actualy stopping on normal programmes, it is a split second thing, but its often, sometimes a few times a minute, then nothing for say 10 minutes then it starts again... very annoying indeed.

Before I box the baby up and take her back to Argos, does anyone have a clue as to why it is doing it? Is it something I am missing cable wise maybe?

I have my SKY+ direct into this setup, no analogue arial in th house. So only the sky+ feed is going into the tv, this is via a standard scart cable.

    Ideas?

    Thanks folks.

Hopefully some of the more expert / experienced in LCD technology will be able to answer the 'freezing' question. So it may be worth hanging on a little while for their response before heading back to Argos. (PS: I've had faulty as well as loose scart connections in the past but it's been picture loss, not picture freezing, which has resulted in those instances).

I tried 3 diff scart leads, none made a diff.
I guess its an issue with the refresh rate or such like, nobody seems to know what the speed is. I think 8ms is a decent rate, but not 100% on that figure...

Really annoying me now, watching rugby league is very frustrating, or any sport for that matter.

Oh and I cant find how to tune the sky remote control to work the TV either.

I take it you have Sky (a question not as silly as it sounds!)?

    1) Go to Interactive (one of the four big oval buttons on the top of the Sky remote)

    2) Choose 'Sky Customer Service'

    3) Then choose 'Your Sky Remote' and follow the prompts

There's instructions there on how to program your remote and the codes for different makes and models of TV. If your TV isn't listed, try codes for other well known cheaper brands (Alba, Bush, Beko etc)

Your box DOESN'T need to be connected to the phone line for this service and you don't even need to be a current subscriber.
