Ok - I'm away to listen to my 8 track and watch a Video on my Betamax:D

One point not often mentioned is the ability to place digiboxes, etc. on TOP of the good old CRT set! Now we've got an LCD, we've had to displace our Betamax to make room for the PVR!!!

And as for the 8-track - our's is still going strong (and it's a RECORDER!!!).

theloft, what do you mean - I don't see any "discount codes (in that section)"? What is the URL of the dixons page with discount codes, or simply what is the discount code?
Prudent - Not allowed to post Discount Codes on Threads except the thread dealing with discount codes & vouchers. But here is the link (Post No.1 in thread):-

  • :j Found this one in stock & ready for Xmas at Amazon including Freeview! The Woolworths one is in stock (Only silver - not the one on the link above) but has an extra £15 delivery charge, making it only £10 less than this one with freeview. Amazon of course has free delivery!
    Check it out at:

  • I had thought I would find some useful information on LCD Tvs on this thread as we are considering buying one in the January Sales... our CRT is on the blink, and most definitely ready to expire.
However there is so much information and conflicting points of view, I feel I am no further forward than when I started reading the thread... although I, and others, should keep in mind that it's a cost-saving rather than techie forum...

However, yes another "However", if anyone could pass on any advise on recommended LCD TVs ( I want a 37", the wife a 32") then it would be greatly appreciated. Anyone got any insdier information on potentia;l candidates for the "Sales" then?

    Cheers
    Andy
  • You really have to just try them for yourself. We've been through 3 in the last 12 months in this house.
First a 26" Phillips but it was crap. Secondly a 32" from Aldi, so it came with a 3 year warranty.....took that back, it started buzzing. Thirdly, an Evesham 32" from Netto - again with 3 year warranty. This has been the best so far....

LCD's are great. They save A LOT of space. HD Picture is AMAZING (especially with XBOX 360)....Buy one, if you don't like it - take it back. Its not illegal.
  • A very good deal on a plasma is at Misco's web site.

I dare say that each has their own priorities depending on their circumstances. I've yet to see an LCD that can hold a candle to my JVC CRT for standard broadcasts and, since I prefer not to line Rupert's pockets, there's not enough HD content to convince me to change just yet.
