I've been following this thread with interest.

I am one of those shoppers who hasn't got a clue about HD, digital, plasma, lcd and uncle tom cobley and all.

My cheapo CRT has just conked out and someone in the butchers had heard from the secretary at the paint mixing factory and was telling the woman who does the outfits for the Brownies :D that we're "all going to need a digital tv in about a year anyway and none of the ones we've got will work" ;)

Ah! So you're living in Walmington-on-Sea too, huh? Wonderful! :rotfl:

Hope you & yours have many happy years with the new telly!

*PS: The secretary you mentioned isn't employed in the paint factory. Confusion arose after I asked Uncle Arthur why everyone called her a scarlet woman and he said it was because of where she worked.

** Pls ask Mr Jones to reserve me half a pound of Danish LCD for Saturday.

  • I got one of the Technosonics from Woolies back when the original post came out (although I had to wait weeks for it).

This was a rebadged Thomson and thus far has proven an excellent buy - not a hint of "cheapo" about it.

I saw a post on another board stating that Technosonic actually manufactured these for Thomson - don't know if it's true but sounds credible.
  • Having been on the waiting list at several Woolworths I got mine last week. For anyone local the manager at Strood was really helpful and quick to place an order when they became available.

I also saw this site advertised when I was on the motorway they have 32" HD LCD TVs for £399 - but I have not read any small print or checked delivery costs etc

    Thanks,

We find there are so many urban myths related to LCD and Plasma that we thought it was time to point you in the right direction -

Copy and paste the url if the link isn't working (sorry if it doesn't).

Read the facts and make up your own mind! Click on the links from this site and you'll see a pretty comprehensive report on "European Consumer Attitudes To Flat Panel TVs" - then I suggest hot footing it down to your specialist electrical retailer and viewing a side by side comparison. (The site even tells you what to ask for when you're shopping around!) Your eyes will tell you which screen you want to buy!

    Shameless plug -

You're right mirandamayhem this is spam, but unlike the usual rubbish, think this was done in good faith.

A great article from the pioneer website which I for one, found extremely helpful

    Yeah..whatever
  • it was the bottom link i was referring to. The top one is obviously an information site but the bottom is a shop link to their own shop which i thought was against the rules?
