Ok, will stay away from oilatum etc, used to use matey/little me organics bubble bath, but switched to asda little angels few weeks back. Will cut that out see if that helps.
Nappies i have asdas little angels/huggies, but will get small pack of pampers tomorrow and see if that helps at all. Always preferred pampers but they aint MSE lol!
As for mourhulin-i have def seen that in the chemists cos ive looked at it before, but usually metanium is best hands down. Even doctor recommended that as one of best.0 -
Bepanthen here for our little one,
Worked a charm.Sealed pot challange no: 3390 -

I agree, it could well be that thrush has taken a hold, I know somebody whose GP misdiagnosed it, once a dermatologist had seen it and prescribed Canesten it cleared in 2 days. OP, run a search for pics of an*l thrush, the results aren't pleasant but you might recognise it.
For DS I always used Zinc and Castor Oil Cream, it's cheap as chips and was what my nan used on all hers and it works a treat. I also never used baby wipes, just water and cotton wool, all those chemicals can't be doing any good and must sting like hell
ETA My local tattoo artist recommends Bepanthen! It's quite thick though and tends to 'drag' the skin a little, I think I'd prefer something more slippery on a sore area.Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)
December £361.54, November £322.28, October £288.52, September £374.30, August £223.95, July £71.45, June £251.22, May£119.33, April £236.24, March £106.74, Feb £40.99, Jan £98.54) Total for 2017 - £2,495.100 -
If he doesn't like nappy free time and the Sudocrem isn't helping, then I'd suggest changing his nappy on the hour every hour and applying a liberal dusting of cornstarch/cornflower (I use Burt's Bees Baby Dusting Powder, which is cornstarch and powdered herbs). If the sore areas are dry and clean then they will heal more quickly, I think.0

Do you think that the skin has got infected? I see a lot of this as a peadiatric nurse in the community! It may be worth going back to the GP incase you need to get a topical cream with some antibiotic in it. I would definately stay away from Aqueous Cream and bath emollients such as Oilatum as these will just dry the skin out more and will irratate ++ if the skin has broken down and is bleeding. Sure that you are already doing this but don't add anything to his bath water and stay away from baby wipes until the skin is totally healed, stick to water and cotton wool if possible. Good luck !!
Just out of curiosity, why would Oilatum dry out and irritate the skin? I was under the impression that it forms a barrier on the skin to prevent evaporation and further dehydration - it mostly consists of liquid paraffin. Obviously washing with anything that contains detergents is a bad idea and you're right about Aqueous cream, as it contains sodium lauryl sulphate.0 -
righty, have bought kamillosan nappy ointment this morning (£5.08:eek::eek:!!) but hey, whatever it takes! got another appointment with the doc tonight to get them to look again. the hydrocortisone one was a canesten one so am assuming thrush related/antifungal.
Just looking at the burts bees dusting powder now, def be worth a try. remembered i have a small sample tube of their nappy cream so will put some of that on too. I LURVE the sound of the baby bees buttermilk bath powder-sounds lush, i dont spend £15 on bath stuff for me lol, but as its my boy i might give it a try!! will try anything i can to help him, even if that means cutting out anything chemically bath wise etc. plus have had good few weeks on ebay so have some paypal funds to spend.
Have just changed him again-2nd poop of the day so far, had pooped when he woke upand hes still really sore, we're just on water and cottonwool, he loves the cotton wool balls to play with when im wiping him-lil weirdo!! says its fluff n puts it between his toes, pulls it apart, then chucks it everywhere!!!

Is it possible it is thrush? DD3 had it constantly and it was a bugler to shift! Get the doc to run swabs to make sure.. canesten 1% or daktarin is better than the rubbish timodene they usually prescribe
If you use cloth nappies boil them it will kill any lingering bacteria, fungal spores which won't be helping.
If it is just bog standard nappy rash metanium is the stuff of legend! Stains everything it touches but it is so good.. olive oil to clean it off!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
got 6 tubes of metanium already (stock up when its on offer), it really is the business normally, but just doesnt seem to be helping right now which is making me think its something more.
hes still nappy free at the minsince changing him so getting air to it. dd hd thrush and she had timodene-agree it was crap and the smell was grim!! the doc im seeing later is lovely so will ask if they can do swabs to confirm/rule out thrush etc.

daktarin was the best thing we ever had for thrush (and athletes foot!) and it doesn't stain or stink!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

Someone suggested leaving nappy off, I agree, and who knows at 2.5 he might even decide to ditch the nappy (weirder things have been known!).
Also I would be wary of trying one cream after another, as that may make things worse, unless doc confirms something specific (eg the thrush).Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.
