Took away his council flat. Were thinking about a slap on wrist but decided would be a bit harsh.

This program is making me sick,

We are on the verge of the rented home we live in being repossessed because our Landlord can't pay the mortgage!
Hubby and I both work, have two children, don't claim a penny in benefits and never have and been told sorry when you get evicted WE MAY put you in a hostel but can't give you anything else..keep bidding.
We have savings which are paying for our family holiday in 4 weeks, which we work bloody hard for once a year and they said use that... to which I replied and **** £1500 down the drain which is what we will lose if we cancel the holiday! Money we have scrimped to save???
We didnt ask for this situation!

Just hope we have time to save another deposit after the holiday :(

Good luck - and go enjoy your holiday!

Sorry them's the rules you have money although earmarked for something else. Spend it first then apply for housing but don't be caught by the deprivation rules.

It's not just programmes like this that angers me, It's the shear ignorance of some people who diss the people who have no choice but to live in a council house. I was brought up in one, I also had one of my own for 10 years, I am not ashamed, And yes I had a child, so big deal. I worked then finished due to personal reasons.

Its not a case of dissing people who live in council houses and you think people are generalising, they are commenting on what is shown here and now.
This woman has been on the waiting list for 15 years and yet continues to have children who she cant house properly. If all the adults worked they should be able to rent a bigger house privately but they are hanging onto their cheap council house for grim death just waiting for a bigger subsidised one.

I was brought up in a council house, and then had one myself for 10 years, then bought it. I had two children, plenty of room for them.
but wouldnt have had them if I'd been in a one bedroom flat.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

You had a child, not eight. There's a slight difference!

There's nothing wrong with living in council houses. What's wrong is when people choose to have too many children to fit in the house, and they try to blame the council for the overcrowding.

    Thanks for the reply....

It just makes me so angry, we paid final payment 4 weeks ago...a year of saving to pay for it and then we find out 2 weeks ago that the mortgage hasn't been paid and legal action will commence
You are correct we have all out money earmarked for the holiday..spending money basically and food because we are SC and they say cancel the holiday and don't go....
After the meeting today I feel guilty for going ahead with the holiday. But it is like you say rules are rules.

What are the deprivation rules? Sorry for being dim but never heard that term before.

There is a huge gap between the rents for social housing and private here in London. I am not surprised that council tenants sub let. Rent for 1 beds in zone 1 can fetch upto £350 per week!

It just means spending money or giving money away intentionally to be entitled to claim for something which had you not done so you would not have been entitled to.

    gotcha :)

Wish I could win the lottery, Y'a know what I would do? I would buy a huge field and build loads of houses, and sell them for minimum profit! OR rent very cheaply. I have always wanted to do that, aswel as running my own care company. (Love my job I do, but don't like the way companies run it).
