Shared Pipes and low water flow

i dont think it actually matters how old the pipe work is this is a csp situation ; your water supply company only is bound too resolve the issue too the 1st point of distribution ; if you had no water all this would be an easier issue too resolve ; but you have low pressure which in some respects is a harder issue too resolve ; some water companies will meet you half way .. ie ... you do your half up too the boundary and they will do the connection and the rest of the pipe for free .... ; lack of water and restricted fascilites causes hygiene issues ; the big guns in the industry are the enviremental health at your local council ; even if you neighbours dont like it they have the powers too force the other residents too get the work done .you would do well too report any incidenses of low pressure( maybe as no supply me thinks!) too the water board reguarly too support your caseNSD = 3/31 spent = £97.88/31 groceries = £26/31 fuel =2/31

Hi eeeeeee,
Thank you so much. Yes you are right. My biggest concern was that the water pipe I just replaced on my property was really rotten. Our plumber told us the supply pipes won't look any different and it can be any time that these will burst. The low water pressure and the cut outs of water are more regularly and I spoke to some of my neighbours and they seem to have the same problem.
What I do not understand is why these Water Companies at least not offer any solution or financial help, they charge enough money. In Germany you do not pay as much as over here and the service is excellent, when somebody over there would tell you that you would be reliable for supply pipes outside of your property they would think it is a joke and the water company would have been sued big times. Now I know we are not in Germany, we are in England but hey I personally hate when people rip me off and I think it is a rip off and something has to be done. Even when South West Water actually agrees with replacing these pipes, I will speak to our local MP and the newspapers that something has to change. Either the Water Companies do something or the Government.

It is all down to the government and I am afraid that going to the papers and your MP will not help in this case. By all means go ahead but nothing will change until there is an open market with water companies and that is still several years away.
I don't think you will get a written anything tomorrow as the people that come out are not able to provide that in line with the DG rules.
By all means follows eeeee's (how ever many there are ) advice but remember that there is no water board now and that as a shared supply you do get water and as such anyone would be unlikely to force your neighbours to pay for repairs or to renew anything when the only option for shared supplies is to seperate them.
Also if you are going to write anything based on their advice please check out the usage of "to" and "too"as writing a letter of complaint and getting those things wrong does somewhat take away from the main point. (and this is from someone who dealt with DG7 way back in the history of water companies)There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;

Hi Gothicfairy,
Do you mean me with the usage of "too" and "to"?0 -
No Jupiter, I mean eeee
You are doing fine (as are they ) but I did not want you to copy and paste from their replies and use it in writing to the water company.
I myself worked with DG7 (complaints ) and also know plenty who still do and the better you can put your case the better the reply.There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;

Hi Gothicfairy,
ah yes I know. I am good in this, too ;-). I worked for a complaints department in Germany, so I know what is important but thanks for your advice. My hubby is English I am very sure we get some very professionally written letter together. First of all I do the talking and if I am not successful I go and start writing. ;-)0 -
Ahh but with water companies you need to do the writing first..Talking is nothing to do with DG rules but writing is.
If you want to take this further and get proper answers it has to be in writing as they then have to stick to the rules, if they don't you can claim money back from them.There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;
So they break the hearts of kith and kin, and roam the world at will.

Apologies to Gothicfairy and deanos for coming on a bit strong earlier, but I did think this thread at the time needed a good shove in a perpendicular direction

It's become quite a thought-provoking thread now and although we've all got views akin to blaming the government for various letting profit-takers exploit the law and about wasting our time complaining (or not) I think you guys have now given Jupiter1 some good angles.
PS I don't mind playing the court jester or Victor Meldrew if at least one person smiles
PPS And I did have to sort my own low pressure problem out last year in order to get back a shower that worked, so I did indeed feel part-qualified on this one
PPPS The 1 bar minimum you mentioned Gothic is not much cop when the UK's most prolific electric cold mains fed shower manufacturer, Triton, has sold more models with a minimum mains input pressure of 1.5bar than any other type :mad: They simply stop heating the water at anything less than that "for safety reasons". Cold showers are pretty common in UK as a result and I don't just mean in Hastings B&Bs or prisons, I mean in every street in some districts including parts of Central London - so we are a European joke, but because not many of us are practised Europeans, we just don't recognise some of the disdain we attract, and we continue to rough it with things like this and with uninsured salmonella'd coronation chicken at street parties and kid ourselves that we get things done better by cutting out bureacracy. Then when someone does get the message through we suck our teeth and shake our heads and rub our chins and say "that'll cost you 'cos we're not responsible, mate."
PPPPS Street parties aside, we did get praise from parts of Europe for the Royal Wedding - one thing we still can do quite well thank goodness :kisses3:0 -
peter your so right in so many ways ; homeserve are a company manily owned by another water supplier ; as you are probably aware gothic the loudest complaints next too internal waste water flooding are from an unadopted sewer ...are customers with low/poor pressure; water companies are notorius for deeming everything they can as a private issue where possible ; your best bet still is to make sure that every incident is annotated by the call centre just too use as proof in your case;especially when you have no water at all as the water company is not allowed too leave with no supply ; they can leave you with it just drippingNSD = 3/31 spent = £97.88/31 groceries = £26/31 fuel =2/31

peter your so right in so many ways ; homeserve are a company manily owned by another water supplier which one ? I did not think that was true ; as you are probably aware gothic the loudest loudest maybe but from what I can see and hear it tends to be: waste floods (not just from unadopted sewers as there are not that many of those left and if unadopted it is nothing to do with the water company anyway)
incorrect billing for whatever reason but number one seems to be meter readings and RV's
leaks and lack of water
Then I think comes low pressure but I could be wrong, will need to read up before I can say for sure.
complaints next too internal waste water flooding are from an unadopted sewer ...are customers with low/poor pressure; water companies are notorius for deeming everything they can as a private issue where possible ; your best bet still is to make sure that every incident is annotated by the call centre sorry, really don't agree with this..To make sure everything is done within the DG guidelines it needs to be in writing, calling is not DG compliant and as such is not regestered through OFWAT etc just to use as proof in your case;especially when you have no water at all as the water company is not allowed to leave with no supply ermm not sure about this either as I have never found a law that states you MUST have running water to your property ; they can leave you with it just dripping
I would suggest to anyone reading this with problems to write in rather then call..Call if your meter reading is wrong as that can be changed by the back office team based on a phone call.
Call if your date of occupation is wrong as again within 28 days that is an easy fix.
But if it is anything like this situation please please write and make it DGable and thus formal and OFWAT can then follow the case if needs be.
OFWAT do fine water companies for not following DG's so remember : A phone call is nothing but a letter is formal.There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;
