PAC Code Issues and problems
there is no fee or charge for obtaining a PAC Code from your current network,
your current network is obliged by law to provide you with a PAC Code within 2 hours (working hours)
if you having problems obtaining a PAC code?
If you are experiencing problems where your mobile provider refuses to issue you with a MAC code or any other problem moving your mobile number from one company to another, then you should give OFCOM a call on 020 7981 3040 or 0300 123 3333.

i am talking about PAC code this is the code that is required when you want to keep your existing number and carry it to your new network, PUK code is diff to PAC code.
and yes your current network provider which you said is (t-mobile) is by law required to provide you with the PAC code with in 2 hours if they dont then ring Ofcom i have posted the number in one of my posts.0 -
thank you , i was unsure if the puc code was a technical term for unlock codes, but thank you to your reply i now know that unlock code is nothing to do with puc,
thanks for the promt reply x0 -

Just to add, while there's no fee for your PAC and your network has to give you it within two hours of your request there may still be termination fees if you use it while in contract, your network provider will hold you to your minimum term of contract (i.e. 18 or 24 months) and if you want to use your PAC before that's up you'll need to pay for all remaining months of your contract as a lump sum.0

thanks for the additional input Wintermute i think this would make it a little easier for people to understand.
so anybody looking to get a PAC Code have to wait till their minimum term of contract, or would have to pay their current network provider for the remaining period as a lump sum, or (mayb as usual direct debt)0 -
There are also no circumstances where the network can refuse to provide a PAC on a live account, the account can be in arrears and about to be disconnected, but you can still get the PAC.
In short, no matter what, if you ask for a PAC they'll have to provide it to you within the 2 hour time scale, but the PAC only allows another mobile network to take ownership of that mobile phone number, it does not effect your obligations to the contract or any money owed on the contract.0 -
im furious to find out after 4 days and countless calls to OFCOM and Lebara Mobile(my current network service provider) because i am a PAYG customer they kept refusing me the PAC Code saying i need to topup atleast once to get a PAC Code and that this is Lebara Mobile's policy,
so i have contacted OFCOM and they been incontact with them but now OFCOM got back to me saying that "it is the network's policy for you to topup atleast once in order to prove the ownership of your numbe as you being the PAYG customer"
and this is just ****** as i told him they can check my ownership and my details with me on the phone as its registered in my name and security questions etc etc or i am even willing to register my debet card details just to prove that. plus i been calling them from the same number that i need the PAC Code for.
 ABSULUTE ***** :mad:0 -
I presume you parked your old mobile number on Lebara and now want to shift it back to a mainstream network? And you want to do it for nothing.
Bit of a cheapskate thing to do, in my opinion. It must have cost Lebara something to set you up, send you a sim and you don't feel inclined to even buy one top up?
Can't really blame them if they choose to string it out for a month or more. ;)0 -
I think the PAC rules only apply to paying customers, even if you top up £10 they will still be making a loss with you due to the price of handling your calls to customer services, setting up the account, sending the SIM, porting the number in and then porting the number out again. I'm quite surprised you had the balls to go to ofcom about it, you're trying to take advantage of them and you're abusing the system.0
