Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Wed 4th May. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
May the force be with you, I obviously watched too many Star Wars films, lol.
Hubby's been dropped at the station with his packup, he covered the bean plants up last night as frost was forecast & I've just uncovered them, they seem ok.
I'm off to that place of joy called work soon, I expect it will be very busy.
Pork chops with new potatoes tonight, one of our potato plants was broken by the wind, so we dug it up & there are enough potatoes for 2 meals.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning Hester & everyone else who follows
Bright & sunny here, slight frost overnight. I covered my precious apple flowers & strawbs, with carrier bags as I've nowt else
& they seem to be OK.
Need to do food stocktake & menus today, town to sort out expired bank card for one of my bank accounts - not got replacement in the post - & pay council tax & water. Got a couple of craft projects on the go that need finishing before the end of the week & a visit to the doc (or rather practice nurse) for smear test - lovely!
On a brighter note, I had two emails last night offering me interviews for two jobs I've applied for - delighted as I really didn't expect even that much! :j
Can hear the babies stirring, so off to put kettle on again & get brekkie.
Have a good morning all, hope the frost didn't hurt your gardens! Hugs & kisses for all.

Morning Hester and all to follow,
Looks like a nice day again ,but its chilly here this morning, hope my plants are ok, my delicate ones are still inside so should be ok.
Off to work today hopefully it will be busy and the day will fly by, I am going to dd's GCSE drama performance tonight, they are putting it on early for the parents, the real GCSE is in a couple of weeks.
So glad we won the dresser yesterday, cant wait to collect
, not sure if I will paint it yet, will see what it looks like in the flesh.
Dinner tonight is an omlette, I think I have to be at school for 5, so it will be a quick turnaround, OH will have to look after himself.
Rubbish and recycling need to go out, and I will swish and swipe the kitchen.
Have good days all xx
Good Luck to Tappers ds for his interview x0 -

Good morning everyone,
Good luck to Master Tappers for his interview this morning.
Got to get going. Done some work on the lappy, now need to get ready to be at work in person.
Not greatly OS today. Dinner tonight will be chicken Gorky from the freezer with spinach from the garden for the two of us.
Better run or I'll be late.
HH my DH covered the beans last night in case we had "grass frost" which was a possibility. Don't actually know if there was any frost though but it's better to be safe than sorry. Mustn't jeopardise the delicious bean crop:)
Well done for getting the house Miech don't overdo things though.
Hugs to those who need or want,
Happy Wednesday, cheers m'dears, Silver xOutside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.

Good Morning All
Well done on the interviews Cheapskate :T
Sunny here but still quite cold, forcast is for warmer weather by the end of the week.:j
Office again today, must stop putting off some horrible jobs I've got in here, changed my plans yesterday and went out to get my hair cut. Hairdressers have a special half price day on Tuesday's. Anyway will stay in this office till all boring tedious jobs are done.
Bad news yesterday - washing machine died - had done just 1 load of washing. Man is coming tomorrow, hope he can fix it straightaway and we don't have to wait weeks for parts
Piri-piri chicken with spicy rice tonight. M&S had 3 packs of chicken legs for £10 so I grabbed them then realised when I got home that only had room for 1 pack in the freezer
so will be chicken legs again tomorrow :rotfl:
Have a great day all.x0 -
Morning all,
Looks lovely outside but it is absolutely freezing, i am trying hard not to put the heating on.
Work not too bad, isn't it amazing that once you are back in the daily routine the holiday suddenly seems like it was weeks ago!
Left overs from yesterday for tea tonight and OH has made me some soup to take for lunch.
Must peg out the washing.
Have a good day eveyone.:)0 -
Good morning all, bright and sunny at the moment but not that warm.School run with the DGS this morning then home to get cracking on the porch.one door and two walls to finish off scubbing then once there dry I shall paint the skirting boards.Thursday the ceiling and walls will get emulsioned and it will hopefully be finished by Thursday afternoon.its not a big porch but take a supring amount of prepararion.I am one of those folk that are quite particular when it comes to decorating I never mind how long it takes as long as everything is done in order, prepping before final coat it one of my things. My late OH was a slap-it-on-and-leave-it sort.It drove me nuts, to the extent that I would do all the undercoating and prep, and let him do the top coating .I am definitely the picture-straightner in my house IYSWIM
:) if something is out of alinement I can't rest until its straight.
Breakfast will be museli and fruit I think, lunch HM parsnip and apple soup, and I think I will dig out some salmon from the freezer for dinner tonight.Another NSD today, decorating will keep me away from the shops. Its supposed to be warming up towards the week-end I do hope so as I want to start bwalking again down in the country park.We have one called the Riverside near to me and its very nice wirth some lovely walks along the Saxon Shore walks.I take a flask and my book and have a gentle walk and when I need to rest I can just have a sit and a read for half an hour.I am very lucky where I live as it has some good walks locally, plus your walking its not only good for your health, but for your purse as well as there are no shops around to be tempted to spend .:)
My DD had a free table and six chairs given to her last night from one of her clients who wanted to empty out his property. It looks really nice and a lot better than the slightly battered one they had in the dining room .So she is very pleased, I will help her take the old ones up to the tip on Saturday
Hope everyone has a good day whatever you are doing
Take care JackieO xx
P.S.Well done B/B on your DDs job ,she has the right attitude as well, any job is better than none, and having one lets you look around for something else whilst you are in employment .My neighbours the 'borrowers' three DDs could do with a dose of her thinking In two years I don't think one of them has bothered to even try looking for one, their usually still in their PJs at lunchtime.I have even told them when Wilkinsons were looking for staff and they couldn't be bothered.0 -
Morning everyone
Sunny but a bit chilly, but it will soon warm up. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock. I covered my plants last night too, hope they're ok. Was DS2's birthday yesterday, can't believe my baby is now 11 years old!
Hoping today will be slightly calmer at work was absolutely horrendous yesterday, had a queue back to the door most of the day - was completely shattered when I got home. Had a great weekend away though, was rather windy but sun shone all weekend, great company, food and drink and managed to really chill.
Dinner tonight is roast lamb, mash, veg, yorkshires and gravy.
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Good Morning x
We got down to 2.5 degrees overnight and i too covered my beans up. I think Kids Dad thinks I have gone gardening mad but wanted to protect my beans and sweetpeas. My broadbeans have loads of flowers on so Im very excited :T:T:T My dad gave me the plants and was very disgruntled that my first attempts have been successful and that I am ahead of him:rotfl:
I spent a lot of yesterday in bed, interspersed with a hospital appointment. Im hoping I will be ok today as i have a day out with Mooloo. We are going to a day spa which was her christmas present from Biggest. I think she needs to go as she had sad news yesterday. Hopefully it will be a quiet and relaxing day. DD has plans for her DGD which include a money saving trip to the park to tire her out:eek::eek::eek: (DGD not my DD) as he is a bundle of energy.
Well off I go to get ready and I must inspect my plants - funny how this gardening bug bites you xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
