If it's mostly 'his debt' then you should be furious with him, if it's mostly 'your debt' you should be full of remorse and apologies.

They're married: it's 'their' debt in my eyes! And both of them need to be on the same page re finances. OP, I don't think one night will hurt, but if you're bothered, I think you need to chat to him.

I hope he doesn't get popcorn; it drives me mad to hear the rustling of paper, noise and slurping in the cinema while folk eat. With the way things are going I am half expecting somebody to wheel in a BBQ or a roasting spit one of these days or perhaps a bucket or a bath tub with coke in it. But then again I am a grumpy middle aged man.

This is why I'm glad my partner and I agreed that excluding our joint bills, we would keep our finances separate.

My OH went to see a film with my best friend a while ago whilst I was away and he begged her not to tell me... that he hadn't used an Orange Wednesday code. :rotfl:

We're trying to save the pennies too, OP, but my OH has a regular night out with his mates. A regular treat makes him more likely to stick to MSE ways the rest of the week.

He's so much better with money than he was before he met me, which is largely down to my careful training;), but he's still not as MSE as me, nor will he ever be. He's made a big change and I have had to adapt too, by not making an issue of him from time to time spending slightly more than I would like, because that amoun't isn't hugely more than I would like and it's still a lot less than he would have wanted to spend previously.

I don't think you can ever pull someone up to the same level of MSE-ness as yourself; you have to pull them up as far as you can then drop down a little way to meet them.

If you're making progress together towards your MSE goals, then let a few of the little things go. Your OH could have spent his tenner more wisely, but it was a one off and only a tenner. It could have been worse.

Hope the staff at your local cinema aren't like the ones at mine. They actually search peoples bags and any confectionary that isn't bought there isn't allowed in

Cue me and hubby spotting this going on and scuttling back to car to drop off cheap Asda popcorn bag. Makes me laugh now but was pretty hacked off at the time :rotfl:

We were asked to leave our cinema shopping in the cloakroom of a cinema on IOW once but they were the see through Asda ones so we were being a bit in your face about it, normally I take a big handbag and we get through no problem! The funny thing was, when we left they gave us someone else's shopping back by mistake, it wasn't half as interesting as ours so we took it back :D

I am sure the next time he will take orange Wednesday into consideration and if its just a once off then i don't see why create a fuss to his face but if it is a Continious theme from him spending in a not so frugal way then i would understand it has to be a 2 way street bout saving very hard to combat debt, but on the other coin did he really have to go see a film was it a necessity probably not but i guess its nice to have a treat now and then when living on a budget make sure you do as well treat yourself :)

As a comedian said once if you were caught taking a knife in i wonder if they would say '' i hope your not going to be making a sandwich '' rather than safety :p

You may walk and you may run
You leave your footprints all around the sun
And every time the storm and the soul wars come
    You just keep on walking
