Problem with Valliant Combi Boiler

  • Thanks for taking time to reply. I thought that the engineer was using scare tactics.
Also forgot to mention that he told me that if this cold water pressure switch went wrong again, my insurance would not cover it, and told me to look in the 'exclusions' in my contract. I couldn't find anything in that section which covered this. Which is why I thought the part should be replaced.
Last night I sent off a suitably worded complaint to BG, and await their reply.

  • my valiant eco boiler is making a knocking sound when we turn the water on and the heating does any one know y and could they tell me how to fix it thanks

He then advised me that the 'cold water pressure switch' would only last 6 months unless I had a Magnaclean fitted at a cost of £250.55!

Is he or BG using scare tactics to get their hands on my money?

    Many thanks.

Yes, they are trying to scare you.
I bought a boiler-budddy (same thing as a magnaclean) off ebay for £50 and fitted it myself.

I've noticed with ours (brand new) that the hot water isn't QUITE as hot when the radiators are also on. It's very marginal for us (but noticeable) so could it be the same issue?
  • As mine has just cut out completley I researched all the possible problems on web. These boilers have had a lot of bad reviews from customers...quality, performance, value, customer service. I inherited mine from new house and it has worked fine for 6 years.
It now can't be reset due to a fault with "not enough water in system" British gas engineer here for 3 hours tried hard to fix but can't reset system. From what I've read on websites this is a common problem. Are all Vaillant boilers designed to die after an average of 5 years?
B.G. hopefully back tomorrow with new PCB board.
4 days without heating or hot water...and counting.
