Problem with Valliant Combi Boiler
Comments
-
Hi again
yes i got the part from ebay- recommend the guy i bought it off for speed of delivery.
Hubby not willing to attempt it as you will have to drain the system (after switching boiler off) and looks a bit of a fag. Luckily we have a plumber relly who is willing to look at it for us tomorrow. I will let you know how easy it looks!!!! Incidently and typically we have had both hot water AND heating today and AT THE SAME TIME!!!!0 -
JUst spotted post from caveat emptor
You should find that the boiler has central heating/cold feed valves on the pipe connection manifold. This way you only lose the water in the boiler when you remove the valve.
whos a clever boy then?:rotfl: made my hubbys day!!! hopefully it will be a whole lot easier job than we thought:T
i will keep you posted tomorrow.0 -

Sorry Ahll
been too excited at having hot water to get to the computer, had 5 baths today just for the hell of it!:rotfl:
Ok here goes:
the plumber didnt need to drain the whole system, just the boiler. turned off two in line taps one was water supply to boiler and one that feeds the rads. so now the boiler is isolated. Now you need to drain the boiler. There is a grey tap at back right of boiler turn this to drain water out of boiler- this should drain outside, then slackened nut off to valve gently. had a couple of cup fulls of residual water from boiler drain out- just be ready with cup to catch it otherwise mop up!. Then he seemed to just connect up the new valve really easily! and hey presto!! hot water and heating AT THE SAME TIME!!!!! happy days!
hubby reckons it looks easy and will have no probs attempting it in future! It all depends on how handy you are! let me know if you need photos of the taps etc that he turned and i will do my best!0 -
just a thought, if you do get the part of ebay, you will have already saved enough money to pay a plumber if you are not sure you can manage to do it yourself!0
-
ooh and another thought! get a plumber round anyway to make sure the diagnosis is correct then ask him how much just to fit the part?! Although it does sound like you have had exactly same prob as us I wouldnt like you to throw your money away on a part you may not need!
best of luck0 -
hi susieb1967 great news for you...hot water and heating at the same time Merry Christmas
It seemed to me that the problems you were having are the same as me, so I put a bid in on ebay to get a valve and you have guessed it..I won ! So I will need to wait for it to arrive before deciding if I am going to fit it or not. From what you have said it didnt sound that hard to do.
Any pictures and guidance would be most welcome. Details of how to fill the boiler backup etc"The time is always right to do what is right"0 -
wow the service from that ebay guy was amazing...I bought the part on Wednesday afternoon and it arrived yesterday morning. So now I have the part just need to decided on the next step at the moment I mite try fiting it myself"The time is always right to do what is right"0

I had a new Valiant combi fitted a couple of years ago, and when I put it on within 10 minutes it cuts all the electrics out around the house - anyone have any idea what this could be?0
