Holiday wear for a larger girl

I generally steer clear of separates as they don't do me any favours, I wear dresses as having something the same colour/print all over elongates the body.
Buy yourself a nicely-fitting swimsuit and a loose, coordinating shirt or summat (maybe even a silky wrap-around dressing gown?) to put over it if you need to stand up to go to the bar (hey, we all look slimmer laying down)
I love maxi dresses and usually go for one colour (usually black, my wardrobe thinks there *are* no other colours) or small repeat prints rather than big patterns (which make me look like a badly-stuffed sofa.)
I wouldn't totally rule out charity shops either, after moaning about them the other day I managed to find not one but two size 18 Monsoon dresses yesterday (they must surely have been donated by the same person because the clothes in the bigger sizes are usually really frumpy) so I bought both as I couldn't believe my luck!Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)
December £361.54, November £322.28, October £288.52, September £374.30, August £223.95, July £71.45, June £251.22, May£119.33, April £236.24, March £106.74, Feb £40.99, Jan £98.54) Total for 2017 - £2,495.100 -
for chaffing - Evans, comfort shorts, in white, nude and black. £6 a pair but they last well. Has transformed my summer wardrobe - I'd never go tightless before due to chaffing! Am so much more comfirtable with billowy skirts and bare legs now.
Also have a look at the website fat nurse - she has some awesome fashions!Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0 -
if you're looking for swimwear, have a look on the net for blouson tankini, i've got one top and its great, as its skims over my beer belly nicely, i wear it with long board shorts for swimming.
Bloody summer, hate it!
I do second the new look linen trousers, have these i a few colours for work and love them
(I'm also 5ft4 and a, ahem, larger lady0 -

Any ideas for ermmm chafing in the thigh area?
You can get things called 'comfort shorts' in Evans. I found them itchy and uncomfortable.
For me it's long line knickers like these Sloggi Basic Long http://www.woods-online.co.uk/trolleyed/123/167/464/index.htm Not sexy in the slightest though:eek:
If you only get a little bit of chafing, a product that works is Body Glide, it's used by athletes to prevent joggers nipple and blisters on their feet http://www.bodyglide.com/0 -

I'm 5'7" and a size 14-16. I was lucky to be in the US visiting my parents last week and found US clothes much better quality and fit for those of us who aren't blessed with twiglet limbs. My tummy is flattish, but my hips, upper arms, and thighs carry the weight.
My advice is that finding a well fitting bra makes a huge difference. Get properly measured, and steer clear of brands which dig in and don't give you a smooth silhouette (easier said than done). Same for knickers!
Primark have some pretty things in, but I found the quality lacking on my last visit - the supermarkets win on quality/price for me.
Avoid spaghetti straps if you are larger on top - try a v neck dress with little sleeves that skims. I bought one in Primark in coral, but it hits above the knee.
A cotton skirt just below the knee covers well but is still cool. Find a feature you can accentuate on top (Cleavage? D!colletage? Shoulders?) and find a type of top that accentuates that part.
Primark has some great wedges for £10 at the moment also.
Finally, when you find something perfect, buy two or more in different colours!0 -
I am fat. 5'4 and 16 stone. I have a giant belly, but the fat is everywhere, so am not aware of any parts of my body I would want the eye drawn to:eek:
Don't even have the boobs to balance it out.
But in a month's time I'm off on a beach holiday. HELP! I keep looking at past photos and not finding much in my wardrobe that I would be happy in. Are there any magic beach clothes out there that I don't know about?
Your a dainty weight compared to me, I know exactly where your coming from, my biggest hang up, was swimwear, this may sound totally mad, but I brought tankinis, with the boy short style bottoms, and there so slimming, because of the cut, then a good sarong, - my favourite is on its last legs, but it goes back in the draw, there so good as a cover up, if you nip to loo or for a drink.
Maxi dresses, very much in, what I lived in for the evening was a couple of skirts, (picked up in Ann Harvey sale! only time I will buy, drool the rest of the time), teamed them with black or white tops.
Shorts I go via Evans, - there jersey, loose fittin so comfy.
If your a size 24 or smaller, your worlds your oyster, as Asda, Sainsburys, Tesco, New Look, not sure on Next (dont know if thats a 22),
If you have a matalan they have Rodgers and rodgers clothing, plus size, good value.
Trust me, there be people who are a lot plumper than you on holiday, I even found people that made me feel like twiggy, that takes a lot of doing. On holiday everything goes.
Your have afab time, and embrace the shopping, xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0
