we didn't have tv for a long time and in fact 've n sen any for a week as I'm laid up in bed ad we don't have a tv in the bedroom - decided its not necessary !!!
TV wouldn't bother me except for F1 but OH would miss his car programmes I think the children would be happy with DVDs they don't watch that muchFirewalker wrote: »There is still time till the Olimpics - do not loose heart. It would have to be a very good job to clear that lot in 12 months but any job would help at the moment

What I think makes it EVEN worse is that they still had 2 years to run on their contract. If they had said that at the end of that it was going to Sky we may have had time to add wriggle room to our budgets.....
And I love the current set up with Jake, DC & Eddie (even with his stupid comments and clothes) in the pre race build up, followed by Martin on the pit walk and then in to the commentary with DC. I never thought they would replace Murray but they have done a great job.
Who knows what Sky will come up with. Just soooooo mad about it. Grrrrrrr.:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0 -

Reading the weekend papers, it seems that it was financial - because since the original contract was announced, the beeb have had their budget cut.
Fortunately we have sky - and I won't part with it and need it for the footie, but find most of their commentators to be very poor in comparison with the beeb.
Have to disagree Maty - I can't stand Martin Brundle on the grid walk. He is so patronising. One of the advantages of having a pause button, I stop it at that point, then pick it up again just before the start.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

Well if Souk is a muppet and Maty wasnt sure what she was, I am definitely an ostrich. Thought I had lost track of you and then spotted the diary. Not sure what happened there. Have just caught up (displacement activity from working this months budget)
Sorry to hear that you are having a bit of a time of it lately and I can sympathise having just bought a property abroad. We need to start transferring money across to cover certain bills but we have rented it back to the people we bought it off (long story). I was wondering whether the property in Lanzarote might be suitable for a long term rent. If you have no plans to go there for a while might that work out better. Then the people renting it from you could pay a set rent and take on the costs of monthly bills? I am not sure what the legalities are there but in Austria for a normal rental the tenant only has to give 1 years notice and the landlord 3 years notice. I am lucky that I had a good agent and the couple are only interested in a fixed term rental. It might be worth thinking about if it helps the monthly bills perhaps.
This might seem really off the wall but bear with me. If you are prepared to live away from home to work is there any possibility that you could get a job in Lanzarote with a British firm and move the family out there and rent out your property in the UK. I know that you foster here so not sure that would fit in. Now this may seem completely off the wall but it might be worth thinking about. Not sure exactly what your OH does but would there be opportunities for him out there?
Anyway, I am now subscribed and will try to keep up. Chin up I know you have been through worse and as others have said you are a very determined force to be reckoned with. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. OH is a non paid vicar no chance of a paid post out thereas far as I know there are no British lawyers in Lanzarote and my Spanish is not good enough although I am an expert on building terms learnt whilst altering the house
We did consider living out there some years ago but having looked at the education we were not happy to take the children out, and no we wouldn't be able to foster and also my Mom wouldn't be able to come with us so all in all that is a non runner but all suggestions are gratefully received :A
Long term renting would be a possibility but there are so many empty properties at the moment and a lot of ex pats coming home because of the devaluing of their pensions that it is not likely the property opposite us as been available for long term rent for ages

I am OK determined to survive by hook or by crook
