you can definitely do this...great price on the rice0

How about storing the rice in the tubs that penny sweets come in although I used to share a house with a bunch of malasians and they just kept it in the paper sack on the floor. Addmitedly they did eat it for three meals a day so 25kg never seemed to last very long.
Jam making so is unbelievably easy I can't believe I didn't do it sooner. Give it another month and the hedgerows will be heaving with elderberries which taste even better than blackberries and make a fab and most importantly idiot proof jam.
Can't help with the sorting out of the garden though. The more I do the worse mine looks. The weeds have been replaced by a rotting landrover so I still can't hang out a full load of laundry.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -

DTxx (who today is mainly smiling about rice - fast show!)
The advantage of doing crafty stuff is that I have all sorts of things for marking shapes etc. and some really good knives.
I have a big bag of pasta that was on offer in Asda a few years ago, and I just use the original bag and keep it closed with some plastic clothes pegs. And rice came in a hessian bag, and I leave it in that. I'm sure they'd shout at me on OS
I love making jam, so can't wait for the blackberries to be out.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

I've just come in from checking on the blackberries - one patch has a purply tinge to the berries, in another patch they're still in flower!2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Love the Cakes DT, well done you :j:j:j And the Carrot Cake too :rotfl:
Glad you all got through the day.
Froogs is a little extreme but I do love her. And she comes up with some great ideas, so you just use the ones that fit in with your lifestyle.
Storage for dried goods. I keep a look out in the £1 shops and buy storage jars when they have them on offer. My favourite look like mini dustbins with lockable lids but I have kilner type jars and tupperware type stuff too. I tend to keep the pasta/rice in them but in the original bag they came in as I still have to check cooking times! One of the girls at work bought a HUGE storage box with a good seal on the lid and kept it outside for excess dried good in it that wouldn't fit in the cupboard inside - just need to make sure that vermin can't get in! My sister had an extra row of shelves put up about a foot from the roof of her shed for extra tinned goods and jars. Bulk buying is great for money saving if you can find a storage solution.
I so wish I was crafty but I just am not. I would so love to be able to do a homemade Christmas. I am going to try making salt dough Christmas Tree Ornaments though. If I fail they can go in the bin but if I succeed they will be gifts for family and friends. This may be a good thing for you to try with the littlies as they would have fun making and decorating them - just need some cookie cutters in the right shapes!:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0 -
Lots of lovely ideas which I will re explore when I have a bit more time.
I have had a lovely day today Mr. DT. has already constructed a new shelf in the coat cupboard and it is primed and undercoated and unnecessary coats removed elsewhere :T
Made a present for the bunny who had its birthday yesterday as my little boy said it was not much of a birthday with no present so I was going to knit a scarf and hat but when I was looking for wool found some small squares my daughter had knitted to practice when she learnt so he now has a yellow and green blanket which I sewed together and crocheted round the edge with 5 minutes to spare so one bunny duly tucked up in bed and one happy boy
Also baked more cup cakes half of which have been eaten already
Tomorrow I have more transmitters to visit  although I think my foster child needs to brush up on his geography as he was convinced glasgow and back with diversions for various transmitters on the way was doable before getting home in time for tea :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: needless to say I have restricted the travel area but it is still going to be a full on day and I will miss the F1 qualifying as I will on Sunday as my little ones have a birthday party and then swimming lesson no greater love has a woman than to give up her grand prix for her children .............. thank God for iplayer :T
Ooh best news of all my Mom loves me and she is buying me a new breadmaker as an early Christmas present - I love Christmas and my Mom :A

i do love the extra mile that you go to for the children,,you're a mum in a million0

..or in the case of Glasgow, the extra few hundred miles!
Giving up Silverstone is a sacrifice indeed.
I've never heard of doing jam in a bread maker, but its basically a fancy oven.
Thanks for reminding me, have a friend calling in later, so must get some bread made.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0
