Weird or what - have just run Hijack again and it looks like the result is different to that which I posted a couple of minutes ago? What on earth? Am I going loopy?

A lot better. Still quite a bit you could stop autostarting with the 04s. Most things don't need to start with Windows, rather just start them when you plan on using the m.

You can use this site to see many startups and if they need to start with Windows:

A brief description ,i allways keep my web bar light ,use download.com/ cnet for downloading untick add ons when running applications this will prevent your toolbar from bloating i use mcafee for firewall and antivirus my hdd i split into 3 sections c,d,e drives and 2 x a week i run eset free scanner this finds stuff mcafee cannot and its free ,i know there are people on here that can do a lot better than this but i find if i keep it simple to start with and organised my point being there is enough going on without spending evenings chaseing services .msc evntvwr registry settings spend my days looking for them problems the beauty of eset is its not actually fully stored on your pc so you have one antivirus on your pc and one wh ere you download definitions and run a scan,hotmail you can allso store 25 gig each of albums photos so in our house you have 125 gig of free online web storage make a back up dvd etc and webspace so theres another 125 gig i ant got stored on hdd

Hi Russ. Thanks for that, will look at that link for mine when I have free time tomorrow and again for the friend when I get the updated Hijack log through from her.
We've successfully uninstalled AVG and I believe Avast is now updated and operational.

I am posting her updated Hijack log in a mo when it comes through if you will be so kind as to check I've done what was needed on it.

Just one other query; when she ran appremover to get rid of AVG it apparently did not identify that she had SAS on her computer. When I tried it on mine it did show up. Is this a sign SAS is not properly installed on her computer?

Looks like SAS is only supported through Appremover on Vista (http://www.appremover.com/supported-applications), so it looks like everything is fine there

No worries, will check out the HJT log.

You still ought to post each of the Malwarebytes logs that found malware (Malwarebytes > Logs tab), and ditto with any SAS logs that found and removed malware.

No worries, will check out the HJT log.

You still ought to post each of the Malwarebytes logs that found malware (Malwarebytes > Logs tab), and ditto with any SAS logs that found and removed malware.
