the policeman that came knows these two boys well and said that it would go down on a database that basically they need to keep an eye on them and he did say that he was planning to go where they hang out and do a stop and search and basically harress them a bit. but without my sons consent that is all he could do

It is never too late for your son to change his mind about police involvement, and it may be worthwhile (for his own state of mind) encouraging him to do so.

I know it won't stop them straight away but at least come the glorious day, there will be a list of stuff against their names, so they can't say they are angels being picked upon by the police!

Hope your son feels better about things.
    I would if I could but I can't so I won't!

    oh how awful. poor thing.

i also recommend a personal alarm - i had an incident a few years ago (not as violent, but made me scared to go out on my own near my house - a horrible feeling) and i got an alarm. i never had to use it but it made me feel more confident walking around.

i absolutely hate the idea that these thugs get away with it, but i also completely understand your son not wanting to make himself more of a target (i was in pieces on my court date to give evidence and i'm not a teenager and the person didn't know me apart from maybe being able to recognise my face - even though i'm pretty sure they were too high to notice much about me at the time!)

the police will do nothing...you can be pretty sure these scumbags know their rights and how to wrap the police round their little fingers...by then your sons card is marked...some other poster has hit the nail on the head....the perpetrators only understand one thing....as for those that say turn the other cheek...I wouldn't bother ...it will get slapped as well....solution fight it by fair means or foul....if they are chavs/gyps or whatever...call crimestoppers, tell them they have weapons/guns/drugs or whatever at their address....if you want to leave a name at crimstoppers...use theirs...they don't like people who grass their own...as regards wasting police time...I wouldn't worry....from press reports of the "crimes" they have been dealing with recently (destruction of flower beds/playing football etc) they should be happy to do some "real" police work...who knows...they may get lucky and find some contraband....did I mention the reg numbers of their vehicles...report them as well...chances are they are up to no good anyway....

if all else fails use the "my dad is bigger than yours" .... borrow a dad for that purpose....break the scumbags fingers....

apologies to all those do-gooders or turn the other cheek purveyors...it doesn't work...it only gives you satisfaction...

karate, kick boxing etc....good for self discipline, fitness etc...but the first thing you learn in self defence is try and extract yourself from the situation, only then if all else fails should you try and get the first strike in but this is where most training falls down, you have to accept that you probably WILL get hurt, it WILL be bl00dy sore and if you are going to strike, it has to be definitive, by that I mean, cripple your oponant by a knee strike (means break his knee), punch his face (so hard it shatters his nose causing blood to spurt everywhere) twist the finger he is pointing in your face (until you hear it crack and point in completely in the wrong direction) kich him in the privates (so hard you can now see 3 adams apples in his throat)...then and only then will any self defence moves have worked...if you can learn the correct technique to strike the side of the neck with the side of your hand (ridge hand) with reasonable force, your oponant will immediately drop and be incapacitated (be careful practicing this one)...all in all...hopefully this gets the message across about self defence...you have to be bold and accept the pain...
No two ways about this one: Anything Free is not a Basic Right..it had to be earned...by someone, somewhere

the first time he self harmed was to do with a relationship, he has been taunted before but never anything like this, he was worried about what i would do as i would never have let him take the dsi with him as its mine, thats why he would have done anything to get it back
he has done the councilling and he hated it

It is too easy to say retaliate, it is too easy to say get the police - I really feel for you because you are damned if you do and your damned if you don't. I would not persuade my boy to fight, I would not persuade my boy to name names. I'd get him away from there whatever it took. Maybe I'm a coward but me, and it's just me and my own way, I see my responsibility as being to deliver my children to adulthood safe & sound whatever it costs me.
So sorry to hear about this, very great sympathy for you all and I hope you get through it somehow and not have you lives ruined by these people and what has happened.

Do you have a relative he could go and stay with for a while? Personally, I'd go to the Police, but that'd be my way of standing up to them, It wouldn't be suitable for everyone.
