Morning everyone, very upset and can't stop crying. My pooch had an op last November, for various lumps but the main was in her mouth (or lip as the vet now insists), but the one I was most concerned about, the one on her lip was not removed. Went to another vet, recently and it turns out is is cancer. Wrote a letter to my previous vet who I have now spoken to on the phone (she called me 4 times yesterday but I was out)...insists that the lump was not there, insists that I hadn't mentioned it; says the consent form agreed to what was to be done (I don't recall anything being listed as she says)...says I didn't pay for the lump to be removed so why would I get a refund. Said she was very upset that I was upset and that she was a softy...basically, I felt like I was being called a liar and expected something for nothing (although eventually offered to do the op at a reduced rate as a gesture of goodwill, but I don't want to put pooch through it again.) She had removed gum tissue which hadn't been discussed prior to op and now insists I signed a consent form for this. Insists the lump wasn't there and if it was I should have marked it. I said how could I do that, it was in her mouth and she said it was the lip you could have done it. She said when I asked the nurse at the checkup about it that I only mentioned her mouth (it seems the lip is not her mouth!).

There was more, but the bit where she said she had always been mindful of my financial situation (since ex left), meaning she had given some discount (which I don't believe), just made me burst into tears. I feel mortified and I don't know why and can't stop crying.

The bottom line is she missed the lump irrespective of whether she didn't charge me for not removing it. But the worst, is that she is denying it and I've been at that vets for years. Years. I only wanted a refund so I could pay for any treatment (not op) for pooch. I sold my car so I could pay for the last one. I trusted the vet completely and never questioned her when she immediately suggested an op. The lump on her mouth (lip) was the main thing, everything else was extra so she would only go through one op. And the gum tissues was never mentioned.

    Sorry for the whine. :(

All I can offer is (((hugs))) and hope you pooch gets better.

We are all supportive when someone has a problem, so don't apologise for telling us, we all care for each other on here and hope our comments can ease the pain you are suffering even a little.

    Take care

    Morning all
Byatt my puppies send you lots of luv n hugs n puppy licks.
I know how you're feeling as my dogs mean the world to me and when milo hurt his leg last year i was in bits - especially when i found out they had put metal plates on his leg and strapped him up without knowing what was actually wrong and if it was as i suspected tendon or ligament the one thing you shouldnt do is restrict the movement as the tendon/ligaments contract and then snap when used again.
Feel free to pm if you wanna talk xx

PS Tesco rang - they have my change from last night! :-)

Thanks jefery, we lost our older pooch in 2007 at just over 11, and now this one is 11 but she has been such a comfort to me over the last 5 years, that I can't bear the thought of losing her. It's so hard to lose them. My vet let me down but totally wanted to put all the responsibility on me. I appreciate she can't admit liability (all to do with insurance), but still...

I'm now at a different vet and they are very professional. It's the best way I think.

UM, thank you, :A you are so kind, I'll be OK...just got to get a grip.

ah byatt l'm so sorry :( I was going to recommend the PDSA so the only other thing l can add is have you asked at the new vets if you can pay in installments? x

    Happy moneysaving all.

Thank you gill and sassy for suggesting the PDSA, I have just checked online and unbelievably there is a PDSA vet near my daughter! :T I need to register there but that will be an amzing help, I can't believe it. I never gave the PDSA a thought, even though I knew about them in the past.

    Thanks Dawnie and CW. :A

    Afternoon all:)

Sounds like alot of jefereys special hugs are needed by a few people on here today

Byatt so sad to hear of your predicament regards your dog hope PDSA can help out fingers crossed for you

Celebrate that was such a horrible experience and sad to hear it isn't the only tough time you have because of peoples prejuidice sometimes it makes us wonder what kind of world we all belong too. Love you post VC as regard the person so good & I would have loved to have the guts to say it in the same situation but unfortunatly like celebrate I would have just wanted to scarper as quick as I could to get out of there.

TS sorry to hear about you food poisoning guess not the recommended way to loose weight then.

Don't know about anyone else still finding it difficult to get into a routine after DTD before DTD I would enter daily comps on thread, keep up with quick grabbit, shopping threads & newspaper thread haven't been able to do any of that am just about managing to keep up with this which I like too as such a happy helpful thread. Busy trying to sort house and making arrangements for hols soon 3 weeks in florida which we booked with airmiles from tesco clubcard but had to sort our own accom(16 nights in International drive 4 in Miami then last near airport), car hire, insurance, park tickets & now trying to sort out what phones we have that will work there for communicating with each other & costs involved sometimes the littlest things take such a long time to sort out. Still got to do our youngest ESTA form as we done ours before the charge but his passport needed renowing silly us didn't do it in time (thanks to martins tips for informing us of these changes).
