But sadly, this is the reality of transporting things by train.

So, if Tesco's haven't got any food in their Scottish Stores today, how happy would people be.

  • It really, really annoys me  that there almost seems to be the suggestion that many of us make all these journeys that we don't need to - hey it's how we pay our bills.

I know, I don't know anyone who's idea of fun is sitting in traffic on a daily basis!

I drive to work every day, it takes me just over 1 hour on motorway and dual carriageway and I use under £150 per month in petrol. It takes me over two hours on public transport (without delays) and a monthly season ticket would be around £200. Not only that, but on days I use trains to get around scotland I have to stand because they are busy and they don't put enough carriages on.

    What would anyone do??

I don't subscribe to the 'live near your work' school of thought as I work for a national organisation that is only based in one place. It would be too expensive to move to live nearer so my choice is to use my car. I appreciate that it isn't good for the environment, and believe me, would love to read on my way to work rather than sitting in traffic, but financially and timewise, car is my best option. I bet I am not alone in this, but motorists shouldnt be satanised as though they go out at rush hour for the hell of it.

This is the case for many people. It's sad; I'd love to live within walking distance of work but the house prices down there are ludicrous.

    Hi

The government should improve public transport before imposing these road charges. I wonder how people who commute to work will pay ?.

Look what happened to london congestion charges as soon as everybody got used to it they put them up same at birmingham toll, it's just another stealth tax on top of the 45 billion we give to them already !!.

I can do some of my work from home cut my journey time but my large employer is elunctant to support home workers.

In a European country where there were tolls; a lot of people used the side roads to get round tolls; The tolls were cheaper than what this country is proposing.
