What did we all think of Kates dress?

  • I loved the dress - she looked amazing!
Someone earlier in the thread posted that you can't dress for the venue or the guests - but I disagree - if you are marrying into the royal family and in one of the most beautiful, elegant and important religious buildings in the uk, a modest dress is just the thing!
  • To the poster who wanted to know what Harry said to his brother, was something along the lines of: right, she's here now or something along those lines from what I can make out and I do a bit of lip reading, usually in the pub!

Do you mean the three year old with the long miserable face who scowled all day?

The little bridesmaids have probably had weeks of being told to behave, not make a noise, definitely no nose picking etc. No wonder she was frowning probably concentrating to remember what she had to do.
The noise must have been overwhelming. No wonder she was frowning.
I thought that they looked really cute.

I would love to know what you all thought as I've chatted to my friends and dd and I firmly in the minority because we didn't like it:(

I felt it was too demure and aging for her, I would of preferred either something plainer and more elegant of something with a bit of a fashion edge, I realise that she is probably has certain restraints, but I felt the lace looked cheap, I didn't like the low cut V at the front or the padding across her bust and you could still see her nipples:eek:

I thought her smile was lovely, the dress looked lovely too except the bodice looked as though the seams were slightly puckered at the join giving a definite line across the breasts that looked like "nipple show through" I have some bras that do the same and dislike wearing them except under thick clothes because of this.

I've never really understood why people think that a 3 year old will make a good bridesmaid. Apart from the brief 'cute' factor, I don't think it's fair on the 3 yo! :rotfl: I felt for those two page boys too, dolled up like who knows what, but at least they seemed to be having a good time ...

maybe I'm jealous because I've never been a bridesmaid. Wouldn't have wanted to be Pippa mind!

The dress was just OK.nothing special.I get that she was going for the whole classic beauty/Grace Kelly look. But she could have added some sparkle to the lace on the bottom of the dress. And it would have been better to have had a more fluid A line, without the pleating and big bow thing going on the back.I did love Pippas dress though.

I know the hats were off putting, but I feel for Beatrice and Euginie. They're so sweet and the press give them a hard time about their fashion choices and their weight. I thought the Spencer girls looked pretty too.

I thought the dress was gorgeous, and William was so handsome.

The only thing I would say to anyone who says there wasn't the wow factor and then compares to Diana etc. There is a slight difference that Diana was marrying the Heir to the Throne, whereas William is a future Heir to the Throne.

Hopefully they will spend many happy years together.

I was watching the ITV coverage. Phillip Schofield (I think) mentioned about her being a called a commoner & said he hated the term. Then a woman (with a very plummy voice) said something along the lines of, hasn't she done well for herself by their (meaning commoners) standards:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
The snobbery was dripping from her.

I do realise that Kate would be considered posh herself to most people (me included!) I suppose she's upper middle class but compared to the usual types that marry royals her family does come from humble origins her grandparents were working class.

Talking of snobbery which I can't bear, can you imagine all those aristocratic types of a similar age who hoped they may have had a chance with William bet they hate her! ;) Those sorts of people (you know the ones that are too posh to even open their mouths to speak properly! :p) probably do think she's common and her mum was a trolley dolly how terrible!!! :p :rotfl:

I must admit when I heard they were having 3 year olds as bridesmaids my 1st reaction was :rotfl:. I took my own daughter out of church when she was 3 or 4 at a wedding service cos she wouldn't stop nattering about needing a drink. When I saw Pippa holding the 2 little ones hands I though ahhhhhh that's how they are doing it, or have they had to do this cos they discovered after asking them that 3 year olds aren't usually good at walking in a straight line and standing quietly. When I was chief bridesmaid to my sister I was grateful that the 2 bridesmaids behind me, were old enough to hold my and my sisters bouquets whilst I straightened her train, I'm glad I wasn't left with 2 toddlers too! Camilla has another 3 year old grandchild too, Lola (Tom's daughter) so I wonder what the reason was behind asking 1 and not the other?

I've seen pics of the wedding cake today, and that give me this is an out of the ordinary wedding feel, that I didn't get from the dress.
