Funnily enough, the receipt that came with these phones listed them as sim free? Didn't test them with any other sim, but I'm suspecting this was duff info?
  • Hi,

I placed a couple of orders with HMV using the vouchers, one with just a dvd on it and another with a dvd and 4 cd's on. They have dispatched the 4 cd's but neither dvd.

They are still showing as open orders any ideas how long they take to process. I placed them last Thursday.

    Cheers

    Dave

I think it just means SIM free in the sense that there is not a SIM card within the phone box (so o2 can sell you it on any tariff just by throwing a SIM card into the outer delivery box), not SIM free as in unlocked.
  • Got my codes today, emailed blue star and a lovely lady called yasmine emailed me my codes. very helpful. she said the problem had been too many texts at once.

I heard the vouchers are just for music - they won't honour any dvd or console sales

For anyone interested in unlocking your L6 i-mode there is a website offering to unlock them and claiming to be the only ones offering it online in the world.

It costs $15 roughly £7.50 paid over paypal

    Its this website:

    http://unimotoplus.net/home

However I tried it and so has another member of this forum and it doesnt work. After contacting the owner (and getting a refund) he informed me that he was aware of the problem and will be updating his systems to fix the problem. He has left me one credit in my account to unlock an L6 i-mode so in a week i will have another go and if it works I will post back an update.

Hope this helps and saves people from wasting the money when it doesnt work.
  • I am not suggesting anything in this post but it may interest you. I e-mailed Yasmine regarding non receipt of 4 out of 12 missing texts. I included all codes that I had text (as I didn't know which ones were missing) and she sent me back 12 HMV codes that all worked! Nice £120 pound profit :T

Did you find out any more about this? I would really like to go to the store rather than hunt about online.
