I agree with you. We've done our bit paying taxes etc for years. I'd like a rebate for NOT having children and draining education resources etc!!! :-/
Don't forget, there is still free education which you can tap into. I'm doing Intro to GCSE Maths, free of cost, this is part of the 'Skills for Life' programme funded by the Govt/EU. Also see my comment on another thread about free computer classes for older people.

Anyway, what about an over-50's credit card with a few extra perks in recognition of how much more responsible and stable we are than many of the younger generation ?0

Good Idea Martin , I admit to being 71 and getting slower so thought i'd ask if you could have a word with Chris Tannant to ask if he might consider us elderly person, I mean fancy selecting us as part of 10 then putting us up against the faster version of homo sapians on "Who wants to be a milliionaire". Well I thought it might be a good idea .0

Have you thought of downsizinf, buying and living abroad, but renting out your UK property?
You then have the best of both worlds and still have a UK base if/when needed.0 -
When you're over 65 the insurance companies increase hugely the premium. My best buy is to have Gold Saver Account with Lloyds Bank. If you keep a balance of £2k you can have, amongst other benefits, FREE world wide travel insurance to age 79. Loss of interest on £2K = £75 after tax (that I should be so lucky ! ). I've not found any policy offering world wide cover for pensioners for less or even that amount. Have you ?0

???
My parents have 30k just in a normal bank account and would like to know the best place for them to put it (other than my account)!
They will need to need for it to be easy access as they are in their late 70's.
Would an ISA be an option?
Thanks Gill

As students get their own board - i thought why not add a silver board. Don't know if it will be used. But I await finding out with interest

Hiya Martin, Im 51 now and enjoying my whole lot! Im not silver tho more brunette, im not ready to grow old gracefully yet if at all so I intend to do it as disgravefully as I can.
Its cool that you have recognised that there are quite a few of us old uns and well I think we have loads to offer.....just wanted to introduce myself and I for one welcome your notice board for the over 50's.... my first question is will you please sort out all the advantage cards/deals which are available - covering all topics really....from coach travel (not done it yet..give it sum consideration may wait a while tho) to trains, boats and planes. From insurance deals - home, car etc..
Thanx for that....off to explore your site now... will be back no doubt with a few comments, just to point you in the right direction so to speak..Oh by the way did I mention that I first heard you when you were a guest of gud ole Steve Wright....luv his show...you were the first person that I actually stopped washing up to sit down and listen to....thank you once again for all your work in helping poor Joe Public to know their rights and to protect their hard earned money.
I look forward to using your new site... :T
Regards,
LITTLE MISS FUN0
