Housework

I so agree with that. When I lived with my ex I let the house go, mainly because I got so tired of picking up after him all the time, which meant that a Royal Visit (parents) involved a couple of days' frantic tidying. When he moved out I spent about 5 days bottoming the place and ever since I just keep on top of it - it takes no more than a few minutes daily and maybe 30 minutes at the weekend when run round with the Dyson.I used to be very messy, but started getting better when my eldest was born. I suddenly felt more pride in my home. Years after years, I started to feel more bothered when the house was a mess, unfortunately, my ex did grow with me! My new partner is borderline obsessed on cleanliness and I knew that moving in together would be interesting for both of us... As it is, it's much better than I'd expected. I am finding that it does indeed take very little time to keep a house tidy and clean if you do it as soon as you've used the room. The rule in our house is you clean the shower after each use, to start with, I thought that was ridiculous, but in the end, it does only take a minute, so hardly affects my schedule, and the shower is always nice and clean. I think it is just a question of habit, once you get into it, you don't think so much about it any longer.
Still hate cleaning the windows though, especially as I have old windows and there's 18 panes of glass to each sash window frame.Whatever0 -
haha I'm not that efficient. We have an assortment of animals (dogs that live inside, rabbits/guinea pigs outside) and I am paranoid about the house smelling so I do it every day x:j:jOur gorgeous baby boy born 2nd May 2011 - 12 days overdue!!:j:j0

Now for me housework really is a chore - I know there are some randoms out there that quite enjoy / or don't mind housework. Well you're weirdoes :rotfl:
If I were married my husband would have to fight me for the housework!0 -
Get a cleaner - worth every penny if you aren't into housework.
We have a 3bed house and have 2 nice ladies come and blitz us once a fortnight. they hoover all round, dust all round, clean 2 bathrooms and the kitchen thoroughly. That's enough to keep us going with just a bit of tidying in between. Cooking/washing up/laundry, those are the only things we do ourselves now, and I stick a bit of bleach down the loos every couple of days. No hoovering, no floor washing, no bath scrubbing - lovely!
costs us £24 a visit through a cleaning agency. For a one bed flat maybe £15? That would work out at £3.25 per week each - can't you find that if you are both working?Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j
OU student: A103 , A215 , A316 all done. Currently A230 all leading to an English Literature degree.
Any advice given is as an individual, not as a representative of my firm.0 -
Flylady breaks cleaning in to smaller tasks.
Sounds mad but it works.
So for example...
Will get in flop in front of TV. during the break will load dish washer... During next break load wash machine.... during the next break and so on.
She also emails you tasks and and overall area you will be doing more of a deeper clean that week.
I kept bits of the tasks and didnt bother with others ( I now keep my sink shiney all the time but never bothered with the dressing to my shoes bits)
Worked absolute wonders because it felt like I was not slogging away at the cleaning but the house was getting noticably better...and better and then one day it was spotless.
And in no time it became a habit but not obsessive..... a happy medium.
Please note I have a cognitive disability - as such my wording can be a bit off, muddled, misspelt or in some cases i can miss out some words totally...0
